Title: Choosing the motor for my tricopter.
Post by: RD1452002 on June 16, 2014, 11:18:41 AM
I've chosen everything for my tri just need to choose the motor -
I've these motors in my mind what to choose :
Odin 3130 KV1000 (Thrust 800 gms)                                                                                                                               ₹. 800
http://rcbazaar.com/products/1479-odin-3130-kv1000-thrust-800-gms.aspx (http://rcbazaar.com/products/1479-odin-3130-kv1000-thrust-800-gms.aspx)
Odin 2210 KV1200 (Thrust 810 gms)                                                                                                                               ₹. 700
http://rcbazaar.com/products/1483-odin-2210-kv1200-thrust-810-gms.aspx (http://rcbazaar.com/products/1483-odin-2210-kv1200-thrust-810-gms.aspx)
2212/13 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor With Mount                                                                                                     ₹. 825
http://www.quadkopters.com/product/221213-1000kv-brushless-outrunner-motor-with-mount/ (http://www.quadkopters.com/product/221213-1000kv-brushless-outrunner-motor-with-mount/)
Can you also provide me with these info about these motors?

How much thrust does it provide w/
01. 10 * 4.5 prop
02. 10 * 4.7 prop
03. 11 * 4.7 prop
04. 10 * 7    prop
05. 11 * 4.5 prop
06. 12 * 4.5 prop
07. 12 * 4.7 prop
08. 12 * 3.8 prop
09. 12 * 7    prop
10. 11 * 7    prop

And what is Odin motors' max current?
And their Internal resistance?

I've also attached a pdf file showing other parts of my tricopter.

If you can go for sunnysky motors, you wont regret it, trust me. And all the thrust/current/rpm details are available online, which is again really helpful than the miniscule data available for the the motors you chose. http://www.quadkopters.com/product/sunnysky-2212-980kv/ (http://www.quadkopters.com/product/sunnysky-2212-980kv/)

And after going through your list, if this is your first multicopter, then avoid APM especially for tricopter. Its complicated for a beginner. Go for a KK2.0/1/1.5 .Even the Arducopter developers consider tricopter as an outdated configuration. http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/advanced-multicopter-design/ (http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/advanced-multicopter-design/)

Dont know why are you getting 3 servos, because only one servo is required on a tricopter.

You dont need an esc programming card if you are getting simon-k flashed esc's, because the only thing you can program on those esc's are end points which is programmed via Radio.

Whats the brand of the radio exactly? However please reconsider your choice of Radio tx/rx. Go for a brand thats used by many and has some community support. And I would suggest investing in a better radio because models/aircrafts keep changing but radio remains the same most of the time!

Also keep in mind the delay you will face in getting the items via free shipping internationally and the chances of it being dutied or detained/retained by customs for NOC's and approvals.

My advice
Dont go for odin!!! I have it and sucked, really sucked...
just with a couple of attempts it gets screwed...

just go with sunnysky as SideWinder suggested or go for DT700 or 750...

the servo u r using is a plastic one which will break after few attempts...you have to use a digital metal gear servo which will cost around 800 in rcdhamaka...

Don't know why are you getting 3 servos, because only one servo is required on a tricopter.

I'm getting 1 servo for the tail and 2 for gimbal.

And after going through your list, if this is your first multicopter, then avoid APM especially for tricopter. Its complicated for a beginner. Go for a KK2.0/1/1.5 .Even the Arducopter developers consider tricopter as an outdated configuration.

This is my first tricopter, but I've built a quadcopter before.

So, I guess I should use-
2212/13 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor With Mount                                                                                                     ₹. 825

Or should I go with this motor:
EMAX BL2210/30 KV1300 (C2826) Outrunner
http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=1448 (http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=1448).
What will be its thrust with:
01. 10 * 4.5 prop
02. 10 * 4.7 prop
03. 11 * 4.7 prop
04. 12 * 4.5 prop
05. 12 * 4.7 prop
06. 12 * 3.8 prop
07. 10 * 5    prop

is your budget for motors less than 1000/- ?  :headscratch:
If not go for sunnysky... heard its the best for multi-rotors...
I dont know about c2826 but you can also go for CF2822 which is good too  ;)

Yes ₹ 1000 motors are out of my budget.
My max budget is ₹20,000 if theirs any way in which the price decreases without removing/changing-
01. Tx and Rx
02. Flight Controller
03. Telemetry
04. Power Module

The new list is also attached.

I already own 4 cf2822 used 'em in the quadcopter.

Should I use these:
Turnigy Aerodrive DST-700 w/ a 4S battery.
http://hobbysea.com/products.php?420&cPath=14 (http://hobbysea.com/products.php?420&cPath=14)
By the way do you know any website where I can get a 3300-3500 mAh 4S battery. They shouldn't be out of stock.

But for that I'll also need a 4S charger please tell me if there's any website where I can get them under ₹1000.

2822 are good motors. bang-for-the-buck. should give about 850-900g with 10x4.5inch props.
The above battery (IND-power 3s 3300mAh) is a very good choice!
