Title: Entry Level GPS quad
Post by: ikheli on September 04, 2016, 12:28:28 PM
Hi All,

After starting with syma x5c1 one year back I am planning to go a step further. I plan to buy a entry level quad with GPS and basic gimbal (camera is optional). So I need advice from you guys what do you have in mind. My budget is 20000. I plan to buy from banggood not from LHS. Any advice on that ? What I must not do? Any one got similar quads through this route? Aerial photography is optional.

If you asked this question then I can assume that you are new to importing from China.
Quads and UAVs import banned in India without licence.
So whatever you import will be confiscated by customs and there is no chance of getting such big quads from hands of customs where even toy grade UAVs get confiscated. If you plan to import dont search further rather quit an idea of importing UAV. :)

Thanks Mr Bala. Bad news it seems. I got couple of syma x5s from banggood last year . So I thought may be it's worth a shot. But going through your reply it seems it is out of bounds for me. Is there any ceiling on weight here? Will it be possible to get a cheerson cx 20 open source without any camera or gimbal?

Its a strict no to quads or UAVs irrespective of their sizes. If it is a radio controlled then it is much more difficult to get through customs.

You can go through some customs related discussion in the forum, to get an idea of how painful it is to deal with them.

Hi Again..

So I could not resist the Banggood 10th anniversary deal on HUBSAN H501S and ordered one. Unfortunately before I could tell them to mark as gift, they dispatched it. It was sent on 9th or 10th and now i can see the status as "send item to domestic location" Here is a screenshot.

So can you guys please advise me if i can know the import duty levied on it anyhow before the postman comes to my door?

Finally the package arrived today. Luckily i did not pay anything. It arrived in standard Banggood packaging which is not so great . A sheet of thin foam wrapped in yellow tape. Hope nothing is broken.

I am relieved that i got the parcel at last. I will soon be back with a short un-boxing and handson later.

Thanks.
