Title: GC -HORNET
Post by: ad! on December 03, 2015, 08:45:23 PM
Hello everyone I am Aditya Bisht. I am apparently new to this forum but have been flying past one year.
This is my entry for the ‘Game Changers 2015’ competition.
I would like to thanx RC MUMBAI for providing such platform.
So now coming to the build.
I have been flying a ~400 quad earlier which i made a few months back. But seeing the agility of 250 racer quad i decided to build one.4
I am a ME student and we build things from ground...So after sum calculations made the frame(base plate) from aluminium composite using basic hand tools.
Here is my current setup
1.Body is of Aluminium composite.
2.Motors DYS BE 1806 black Edition
3.12Amp emax BlHeli esc
4.CF 5030 props
5.Naze 32/kk2
6.3mm CF arms
7.NEO M GPS

completed the frame today ..
The frame is a symmetrical one ,that means lower calculation for FC
Dampers are place below the FC plate.
Battery tray is of carbon fibre from some other chinese quad .I customized it to fit on my quad
Battery would be straped on top so as to reduce pendulum effect .
Bare frame weight 102gms

The red lining is the vibration dampening washers between the frame and arms.
The frame is designed to accommodate 5-6 props.
Large size board like KK2 can be well placed inside the cage which provides protection to the FC.

Completed the fiber Glass canopy .
This will reduce drag while high speed maneuvering  ;D
Started from a foam block , hand sanded it to the required shape and molded fiber glass with epoxy all over it.
This canopy will also prevent some damages in case of a crash since i will be flying at close proximities around obstacles.

nice design! just a though, t adding vibration dampening balls vertically on the quad may induce horizontal vibrations on the fc plate... perhaps if you mounted them at angles? and if you intend this to be a racing quad, what i have found is that this type of mount can make the quad feel mushy while flying....

by the way, what epoxy did you use with the fiberglass?

Yeah i realized that later during the build.... The final version will be having vibration absorbing tape between fc and centre plate.
The epoxy is sum chinese one ...got it from ebay

Started with the Esc programming today ...Emax offers 7 different programmable parameters which can be set by the tx.
Since this gets confusing with so many sounds i prefer using a programming card ,its fast and accurate.

Thats nice, i really liked the hood and the main body that you build by yourself rather than buying something :)
