Title: Heavy Lift Quad config for 2kg payload

I'm looking to build a heavy lift quad to support payload of upto 2 kg using the following parts
I found this config on web ;D

Turnigy HAL frame
NTM Pro Drive 3530 motor x 4
Turnigy 9 x 4.7 props
Hobbywing Pentium 40 amp ESC x 4
2650 3S1P Turnigy
MultiWii Pro with GPS controller board


I would like to know if the following config would work or not ???. Any suggestions /feedback are most welcome :hatsoff:.

Go for hexa instead of Quad

I cannot due to budget limitations. Looking for an under 20K quad for the task.

RcBazaar has a hex combo (Hiller 550 hexacopter Super combo ) for just under 13K.

The remaining accessories viz. a 6ch radio and a LiPo (3S 2200 mAh) can be bought within your budget. This is assuming that you do not want any other additional accessories like FPV gear.

Well as per the data provided, each motor provides a thrust of 750gm with a 10 X 4.5 prop. So the 6 motors together would provide a net thrust of about 4.5kg. Subtracting the weight of the frame, the LiPo and all other electronics on board, should provide you with a net thurst of about 2.7-3.1 kg.
The senior members on the this forum will probably validate the data and rectify any miscalculations on my part. I too am a beginner :). Best of luck :)

on thumbrule your calculation will work. but efficiency varies project to project ...
btw wht is your payload. ? Is it go pro with brushless gimble or DSLR itself.

you will definitely need bigger battery pack. else it will not last .. ecalc.ch may be useful..

Guys i am not sure but i think while calculating thrust of a motor at hover only 50% of its actual thrust is calculated so if in specs it is written that a motor gives 1000grms of thrust it is at full throttle
So u should only count the thrust as 500 grams so that ur copter will hover at 50% throttle and u can fly it perfectly

thrust is a quantity related to motor. and any actuator does not have a linear function. according to my presumptions...thrust and throttle are related by the quantity of RPM.(as throttle is increased the RPM increases and thus causing an increase in thrust till the max rpm).
and dynamics states that thurst is proportional to RPM squared. this is just my theory.

Well thrust and throttle at default are equal
For eg throttle at physical 50% gives signal to receiver of 50% then then motors will half half of its total thrust

While in the case of a phantom
Its programmed in such a way that when u give more the 50% throttle it goes up
At 50% it tries to maintain its height
And below 50% it comes down
The speed of going up or down depends on the amount  of throttle deviation
