Title: Help and tips needed with quad build
Post by: rishabhbarma on May 10, 2015, 01:25:18 PM
I'm a beginner and have decided to build a quad copter.
I bought the following components:

S500 quadcopter frame (from hobbyking.)
Avionic hexa-quad controller (from RcBazaar.)
4* sunnysky x2212 980kv motor (from quadkopters.)
4* SimonK 30amp ESC (from quadkopters.)
4* SF Propeller 10*4.5 SF/10*4.5 Black (from quadkopters.)
Turnigy 5ch (from hobbyking.)

I wanted to know whether the configuration is okay.
Also I don't know whether I should use a SF prop.

Good choice of parts
I would recommend you to go for a higher channel radio like the Flysky th9x...great radio and would help you if you plan to upgrade to FPV and GPS flying!
You'll certainly outgrow your 4ch radio in no time!
Plus if you haven't bought the Avionic controller i would recommend you for KK 2.x.x best board for learning to fly quads and understanding PID tuning.

I'm a beginner, so I wanted to avoid any programing and went ahead and bought the avionic flight controller which is very easy to get started with.

I would consider buying radio from India as it can be detained in customs. .anyways good choice

I have the radio already. :)
What I wanted to know is whether the Slow fly prop is okay for the motor of the quad.

Nice setup though maybe the 920kv motors may have been better for your frame. I would suggest you buy some nylock nuts to replace the stock motor nuts. They hold the props far more securely.

Ad I've mentioned earlier, I have the radio already.
Can I use this? This has no digital trims or anything and is very basic.
