Title: High vibrations in F450 based quadcopter (PX4)
Post by: themaverick on August 29, 2020, 12:24:45 PM
I've been struggling with high vibrations in my F450 frame based quadcopter for quite some time now. I'm running Pixhawk 4 with PX4 installed.

Recently I installed brand new Emax 980kv motors, Emax lightning 30A ESCs and Emax 1045 props to reduce the vibrations. Flight controller has been decently dampened (using sponge strips, not ideal but okay). I'm wondering if I should balance the motors and props. Aren't Emax motors and props already of decent quality?

Here are the flight logs, you can see the extreme high vibrations: https://logs.px4.io/plot_app?log=87834c99-8fc2-4554-9dcd-2e814a25b9fb

Any help would be appreciated. Especially I'd like to know the experience of fellow F450 fliers.

Have you tried balancing props? They really help in reducing vibrations.

You are always gonna have some levels of vibrations.
The vibrations are only dangerous when your aircraft is jumping all around the place even if you have tuned it.

are you noticing anything unusual in your flight?

Yes I think I need to balance the props. But with new props without balancing, I expected atleast average vibration.

@Naveed, Yes vibration levels are too high, quad oscillates in the air even with low PIDs. Also actuator output graph is too noisy (which happens due to high vibration).
