Title: Home made quadcopter - need help
Post by: niteenk on September 27, 2015, 03:40:53 PM
Hi All !
I have tried making quad frame myself and mounted a2213 motors with 30a esc on it
I am using kk2.1.5 having firmware 1.6 installed on it.

Using thermocol blocks as landing gear.
AUW is 1kg (using 5000 mah turnigy 3s lipo)

Issue is -  it does not lift or whenever it lifts tilt to one side even after enabling self level ON
I dont know if A2212 1000kv brushless motors is capable of lifting 1 kg weight.
also Not sure if props are balanced yet to check it

Please let me know if you need any more details.

Try calibration of escs through the kk board. That should stop it from tipping off.

Hii
You should follow the instructions given in below video

for kk board setup

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NAXSBCtSLY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NAXSBCtSLY)

as well as 4motor of 1000kv  is capable of lifting weight of 1kg

mostly I think the issue is in esc calibration , PID or acceleration calibration

follow instructions in video and do share your video

Happy Flying

@niteenk,
Congrats on successful maiden.
Setup seems fine.
You could try increasing the expo on aileron and elevator to reduce initial sensitivity.

Congrats on your maiden flight
As Iyer sir said, try adding a little expo to smoothen roll and pitch. I would also suggest you program a throttle curve that is less sensitive around mid-stick. If you tell us which radio you have, someone might be able to guide you. I would also suggest you upgrade your kk 2.1 to the latest firmware, either RC911 (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=432613) (my preference) or Steveis (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2298292). You can flash the kk with either a USBasp tool or an Arduino.
Another important thing to do is PI tuning. I found this (http://oddcopter.com/2013/01/06/easy-diy-quadcopter-build-part-4-tuning/) guide very helpful. Make sure to tune the quad in acro mode first and then tune the self-level P values.

Thank you KK Sir and SK1701 Sir for suggestions.

I am using Flysky th9 radio with stock module. I am still learning radio various radio configurations and its effect on flight.

I will definitely go through guide which you have provided.
