Hey guys,

My friend is working on his quad, configuration is

Turnigy 11.1V 2200mah 20C
4 x 20A ESC
4 x 15A 1150kv

So is this battery enough?

Cos, this is what i think:
2.2A x 20 = 40A ==> Max discharge from battery
15A x 4 = 60A   ==> Power Consumption by all motors at 100% throttle

This may not be enough if you are going to fly the quad at upto 75% throttle. And moreover it drains the battery very quick.
Better go for high capacity battery like above 4000mAh for longer flight duration and power handling ability.

If he does not have the option of changing the battery, then it may work. This will no doubt stress the battery and decrease its working life. If the quad is light, he may underprop the motors. This mechanically limits the current..

Talking ergonomically, It is better to use 2 pieces of same battery giving supply to two motors each which will easily suffice the need... It will be the most feasible option for a start...!

Thanks guys i think i should first go ahead and test with the normal prop (recommended) then i will underprop motors as suggested, 2 batteries or increasing battery power is not an option now.

Well actually i am planning to get a RTF 450mm quad in my store www.quadkopters.com so want to keep the price min for the buyers but at the same time want to give a quad which is powerful too..

Are you planning the rtf with this battery and motor combo in mind? It is not recommended to sell a product which may get damaged on normal use(At full throttle the battery will get puffed and damaged). Moreover the use of two batteries is not recommended either. This is because, if and when the user accidentally plugs in two batteries at different states of discharge into the parallel connector, the battery with the higher voltage will discharge into the battery with the lower voltage causing all sorts of bad..

I have tested my Tri with 2200 mah 25C and 2100 mah 35C.

Believe me there is significant difference.

I would recommend 2100mah 35C + battery.

I guess 4000 mah would be too heavy.

Can someone post feedback about 3000 mah 35C + battery?

I have a quad with 4000mah 20C yes its heavy but i used DT750 so the thrust is enough to lift my quad easily

Even i use DT 750.

I was asking in terms of efficiency.

I get around 10 mins air time on my 2100 mah 35C  (its brand new)

And 5 to 7 mins on 2200 mah 25C (one year old).

How much air time do you get on 4000mah 20C ?
