Title: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: zalman15320011351 on April 14, 2016, 11:16:27 AM
Hi Everyone,
My quadcopter configuration
FRAME : Q680 V3
LIPO BATTERY : Turnigy 2200mah 3S 20C Lipo
MOTOR : Multistar 2216 800KV 14-Pole Outrunner Motors,
ESC : Afro 20A ESC,
FLIGHT CONTROLLER : KK 2.1.5,
TRANSMITTER : FlySky FS-TH9X-B
LANDING GEAR : Lightweight FPV Multifunction 200mm High Landing Gear Set for Multi-Rotors (Red/Black)

My quad drifts away after taking off.It is not stable or in other words,the quad is moving away just as it likes.Is there anyway that I could solve this problem ?

Use a flight controller with GPS and fly in position hold mode.

To elaborate, any quadcopter that does not have GPS tends to drift. They require continuous manual inputs to maintain position. However, if it is drifting in the same direction all the time, repeat the accelerometer calibration with the quad PERFECTLY level or use the acc. trims on the kk 2.1.

After drifting,I slightly increased the pitch and the quad moved forward and to stop I decreased the throttle.Just banked front when landed.The drifting is the problem.

looks like the PI settings is not the right one. Am right now in work, will check the values what i had used in mine. Meantime you can check in youtube for the right or default values.

have you checked that everything is ok and sub trimed in Receiver test?

Post by: Sukhpreet on April 15, 2016, 09:13:46 AM
1*  Acc calibration....
2* Esc callibration
3* Connect tx to pc. Set all the values of joysticks to 0(and sub trims to 0)
save it.
4* Go to the fields, Fly ur quad(and u need to set sub trims(on tx) to adjust accordingly as per the wind)

@Sukhpreet,
I did ACC. Callibration
Did ESC Callibration ( But in reality,this is a rebuild.Means I removed all the components,disassembled the frame and everything.Then started over with new Tx )
Don't know how to connect to PC.

with flysky, you must have got a cd and a cable
install the software from cd, connect ur tx to pc via that cable. and see the tutorial regarding this :)

Dear Zalman

use these settings and share the video

Pgain alleron  60 45 40 30
 Pgain elevator same
 Ruder 75 20 30 10

Get a cable.Download the software from net.Its freely available(Thats easier :) ).

And connect. :) Or refer the manual. It must be having any way to set all the joysticks/sub trim  to 0 value. Its having the display as well, So you may not even need to connect it to pc then :P.

@kiran rc,
Gyro Bubble is correct in the CROSS HAIR LINES ( Don't know it's name ).
Also the quad was tested by enabling SELF LEVEL Function

No youtube is blocked in my company...

if the quad is banking right, check the PI settings... set it to default or the values given in the previous post.

Increase your altitude. You are probably still in the prop wash. Some amount of drift is normal but that is quite a lot. Use your radio trims, or preferably the accelerometer trim on the kk 2.1 to keep it level.

Title: Re: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: ad! on April 15, 2016, 08:22:33 PM
Try using trim buttons on the tx... 99% itz gonna work

Title: Re: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: VTOLkarthik on April 15, 2016, 09:52:57 PM
It definitely looks like prop wash effect...keep it at higher Altitude, and fly it...and use tx trims if it drifts

Title: Re: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: sooraj.palakkad on April 15, 2016, 10:08:36 PM
At that altitude such drift is normal

Title: Re: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: zalman15320011351 on April 15, 2016, 10:19:17 PM
@Sooraj.Palakkad,
So I have to keep my quad at a height more than that in the video ?
@SK1701 & VTOLkarthik,
What does PROP WASH EFFECT means ?

Title: Re: KK Quadcopter drifting Away !!!
Post by: VTOLkarthik on April 16, 2016, 01:09:26 PM
Prop wash means a twisting air flow in the helical direction, which is commonly seen when it is taking off.
it creates an yaw force which is what is seen in the video. Kindly google for more info and the effects of it. :)

Your video is private.

To prevent vibrations from loosening the screws, use a threadlocker like Loctite or Anabond. Make sure to use the BLUE version as it is removable where as the red is permanent. Also, use no more than one drop per screw or else you will not be able to take it out. Use it only for metal-on-metal contacts as it will corrode plastic.

Post by: zalman15320011351 on April 16, 2016, 05:48:39 PM
@SK1701,
Accidentally the video was enlisted as PRIVATE.I have only RED Thread Locker.I couldn't find BLUE anywhere.

Good fly... u can also use zip ties or cable ties...suits best when it crashes...
btw be careful on the transmission lines..!

Very bad news guys................
My quad fall from a height of about 20 meter to the ground.The crash was due to the M2 mototr.Suddenly it stopped and the quad leaned to that side.
Also the quadcopter at that altitude was drifting rapidly to the left side.I couldn't stop it.Nothing was damaged.Only the Nylon screws joining the Landing gear and the frame was broken and there is a slight crack in the propeller.

The video of the quad is only upto 46 Seconds.Forgot to shut the camera and I don't know how to edit and doesn't have anything to edit.

Was it drifting continuously leftwards ? Or you were giving roll input ?
If it was not your input , try trimming roll to right.
By the way, editing options are available in YouTube itself.

Also , kk board can't make the craft to hold a position , however you tune or perfect the settings , so continues corrections from user is necessary to make the craft hover at a fixed altitude and spot.

For this you need practice , Its just like learning to drive , so fly everyday and develop your skills .

For a start , try to make the craft hover at a spot in a fixed altitude .

@Sooraj,
Yes.The quad was drifting FORTH continuously.And I didn't changed the Roll & Pitch.Really the video is taken from the back of the quad ,so don't think that the quad moves left.It is going FORTH.
