Had been contemplating of making a mini foldable FPV H-quad, which is easier to carry. Since I wanted them to be of specific size and spec, designed a frame myself altho this was the first time I used CAD and sent it to Quadkopters who promptly pointed out some goof ups which were corrected duly and got it cut in 2 days and delivered in 4. Great service from them as usual!

I salvaged the electronics from my ZMR quad, so obtaining items werent a big deal this time.

Specs:
M to M: 280mm
Motors :RCX 1804 2400kv
Esc: 10amp Simon K flashed
FC: Trusted KK 2.0
Battery: 1500/2200mah 2S and 1000/1300/2200mah 3S lipo, all of them have a discharge rate of minimum 40amps
FPV: 5.8ghz 200 mW tx/rx with 420Tvl camera and DIY CL and Helical antenna powered separately most probably.
Got some booms cut to approx 10*10 mm width as per required length, and drilled necessary holes.

Attached the camera and top plate, everything fits perfectly. Motors mounted on there plates. Removed electronics as it is from older frame(saves the hassle of re-soldering them), will probably them tomorrow.

Retreat, Hell!

Wow! Is that 1.5mm G10? Could you PM me the total cost please?

Where did you get those standoffs (in the 2nd pic from top)? Are they nylon?

Looking forward to the maiden video! Good Luck!  Thumbs Up

Electronics have been fit, motors been mounted and everything looks good. I will probably need to use 2 blade 5" props to fold the arms properly. Tried it with 2S lipo, not enough thrust because of increased AUW so 3S would be the only option. Just did a small test flight and it would be fine with some PID tuning.

Its 45 Degree Celsius out here, and Im afraid the motors will get too hot with 3S(they are already getting warm enough), so will possibly complete a full test flight on early morning on weekend perhaps. Would also be testing DIY 5.8Ghz Helical with Cloverleaf.

Swapnil, yes its 1.5mm G10, and I can tell you that its stiffer than my expectations.
And those are nylon tapped and threaded spacers you can find them at quadkopters.com or HK(under accessories in multirotor category) and many other places I guess.

Global Warming I guess Grin , but its really a bummer didnt anticipate temperature could be a major factor affecting electronics.

Initially during the flight, nicked the tree in front and quad flipped. And now I had a flat Cloverleaf antenna Cheesy , otherwise I would have got an onboard view too.
Yes these things get too small far out, ideal for FPV tho and easier to carry.

To do list:
Add an auto pilot,
Add an HD cam,
probably build a complete CF frame/arms.

Sidewinder, nice build!

Why are the motors 'not' starting at the same time? Looks like ESCs need to be calibrated.

Its not the esc's, its the ACC calibration. I keep changing the FC(mounted on foam), but dont calibrate them each time, which leads to small error in acc orientation.
Some people find it disturbing but Im used to it. Either you takeoff quickly or let all motors start and then takeoff Smiley

haha...interesting!
After all calibration just takes 10 seconds on the KK2 you have there! Smiley

After calibration, need to change self level settings, then minimum throttle, PI settings if necessary, then a final receiver test. Its cubersome if you keep changing boards. Right now, just place the FC, and fly away and its because of KK2, really forgiving. I cant think about doing the same thing on a multiwii or APM.
