I am new to this forum. Am planning to build a quad using APM, the Avionic RCB OS-10  and use my Sj4000 with a gimbal

However I am confused by the bewildering array of motors and websites. Kindly suggest a good motor and ESC set.
Will these do the job or should I look for sunnysky or emax?

Ebay and amazon are probable the worst places to buy rc stuff. Tell us how much your budget is so we can help you get the appropriate parts.

Thank you very much sir

My budget for the motors and ESC would be in the range of 6-7k however am willing to stretch it depending on the needs. Requirements are that I need a stable flight for the cam with a range of about 1.5km{which the avionics radio seems to support}.

You could buy 2216/2836 size 800~900kv motors. They can best suit your need along with cost as well. The size of your quad need not exceed 450mm. You can have good flight time with 4S cell configuration.

Thank you
Could you specify a brand and recommended website to buy those?
How about the Emax MT 2216 - 810KV?

Don't get an avionic radio. Trust me, it sucks.
Go for turnigy 9xr with djt module. I think a couple are for sale on the forum. I got mine second hand with a djt module, v8frII rx and tx lipo for around 9k shipped via dtdc.
Or a Taranis if you're willing to spend 20k on a radio. It's totally worth it, though.

You can get a 450 sized frame, just don't get the f450 as fitting the stuff would be tough. Get something like this
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29600__Hobbyking_X650F_Glass_Fiber_Quadcopter_Frame_550mm.html

I would recommend you to get the dji naza lite with gps for the fc available on www.rcmumbai.com
It's the best. By far. And real easy to setup.

Pick the Sunnysky x2212 980kv from the same store
http://rcmumbai.com/products/sunnysky-x2212-kv980-brushless-motor/

And 30A ESCs should be fine but these are priced real good so pick these up.

The price on these is crazy good.

If you're serious about aerial photography, get a good frame so you can mount a gimbal and have enough space for your battery, etc. Won't be enough space on a f450 to mount both battery and gimbal.

I myself will be changing my frame as I can't fit a gimbal on my current f450 setup

Also, about the battery- you can get either a 3s or 4s, make sure it provides enough amps.
Multiple the AMP rate by discharge rate
So, a 2200mah (2.2A) 25C lipo should provide 2.2*25=55A

Suppose, your each motor draws 20A at max throttle on 3s with 1045 props, then your battery will have to provide 80A. So your battery should be able to provide around 100Amps to be on the safe side.

Also, don't trust wolfpack lipos- they're crap.
Get either Gens Ace, Tattu or Wild Scorpion. These are available with rcmumbai as well.
Also, you want to get a good charger, preferably the Imax b6ac or something like that.
