Check all your prop adapters and motor shafts
They are not balanced or bended..
Also check the screws undrr the motor they might have loosen..
This is the problem right now in my view...

Please also check your all Prop are balanced or not.
You must check all nuts and bolts ....
i think landing skid screws are loose...
so please check all these things before flight.

Oh man it's hell lot of vibrations. Kalpesh bro always be careful when choosing props(quality, size, pitch). If you have 8 inch props, please balance and try them first. Also mount your KK2 FC properly on the frame. There should be no play between frame and FC. These new KK2 FC are very sensitive to vibrations and if it's not mounted properly it will create false signals to motor. i had similar issue with my ply sheet frame. tight all nut-bolts properly.

Post by: Aeroempire on December 22, 2013, 11:41:03 AM
Ok I don't have 8" prop please suggest me outlet in India from where I can get good prop for the quadcopter..
All the nuts and bolts are tight, I have used thread locker to tight the bolts ... I guess this should not be an issue.
But again I will try to tight the bolts and stuff the frame .. Have used foam below the fc to absorb vibration, it's vibrating a lot..
I'm ready for a Skype talk where in I can easily show the quad setup and we can try...
Thanks for all ur support .. :)

Post by: SideWinder on December 22, 2013, 01:51:37 PM
Think your motors can handle the prop you are using right now but the fc should be mounted in a better way.
Such vibrations can be caused more because of a loose joint or loose prop, unbalanced motors or props, flexible frame arms more like Arun has mentioned earlier.
The board can also be at fault, did you try sensor test?

Also make sure you have setup the kk 2.1 board properly, such as calibrate the Accelerometer, choose proper orientation and accordingly setup the motors and props, set end points on esc, auto-level settings etc

Sensor test says everything ok... Acc calibration done all ok.!

Post by: pravesh736 on December 22, 2013, 05:03:46 PM
from the video, it doesnt look like unbalanced parts are responsible for this type of behavior of quad.
i suspect u havent selected correct mode on the kk2.1 or the kk2.1 firmware maybe the issue, there is a new firmware 1.6 for kk2.1, installing that might help.

and just to cross check, please balance the props and and mount kk2 by sticking only double side tape on the frame(no need of screws), do align it, and please select the correct quad mode(+ or X) on the kk2,

only mechanical thing to look out for is motor screws, otherwise a quad made of only double side tape joints will also fly better.

Set the p gain value of aileron, pitch and yaw to 40 individually through the menu. Not more.
Set p limit to 25 each.

Turn self levelling on and set it to 35.

Try with these settings. Battery and all components should be mounted firmly.

Do not use foam or padding between the board and the frame. Install using double sided foam tape.

Call if u need help.

I am in Kandivali.

Check the following:
1) Motors are rotating in the correct direction
2) Props are mounted to go in the correct direction as per the respective motor.
3) Also check if the correct motor is connected at the correct spot on the KK Board.

Have you configured it in + mode or X mode?

KK2.1 in X configuration have following motor layout:
Motor#1
Motor Position: Front Left
Prop Rotation: CW

Motor#2
Motor Position: Front Right
Prop Rotation: CCW

Motor#3
Motor Position: Back Right
Prop Rotation: CW

Motor #4
Motor Position: Back Left
Prop Rotation: CCW

If the above looks fine then do the following:
1) Remove Props
2) Put some tape on each motor
3) Hold the quad in your Right hand and grab one of the arma of the quad in your Left hand.
4) Now jerk your left hand to make that particular arm go down. Remember to do this in jerking motion and keep you ear near to that motor. That motor should speed up and you should be able to hear it.
Do this for all 4 motors and check if the respective motor is speeding up or not when being pulled down.

Let us know the result.

Ok here are the steps i have done for the quad for above tests
1. Balanced the props
2. Rechecked the motor configuration, all perfect
3. Rechecked the prop rotation, all perfect
4. Rechecked quadcopter configuration, x mode, all perfect

Tried to fly, after 30% started vibration , before it was at 15% of the throttle.
Now as per Kewal sir, balancing the prop with motor, so to reduce or make vibrations zero of individual motor! After getting null vibration will try to test it again..

As said by many members I have ordere 8" and 10" props from RCDHAMAKA. As they are pre balanced will check running through them also.!

What about checking Gyro Direction (Jerking the quad arm)?
Also, can you provide an HD image of the quad from top with the Props on?

Post by: Dharmik on December 24, 2013, 07:21:13 AM
Props are not mounted correctly. Check again. 1 and 3 must rotate CW while 2 and 4 CCW. From your pics i see that prop mounted on motor no 1 is correct but 3 is wrong. same way 4 is correct and 2 is wrong. you just need to replace 2nd and 3rd motor props with each other.

Title: Re: Multicopter flyer in mumbai, need help!!!!
Post by: IndianHobbyShop on December 24, 2013, 11:11:25 AM
Okay, seems its resolved now.
Well, now correct the prop direction and let us know the result.

Title: Re: Multicopter flyer in mumbai, need help!!!!
Post by: Aeroempire on December 24, 2013, 11:38:30 AM
May be because I got confused as there is no indication of cw or ccw on hk props. Today evening I'm getting props from rcdhamaka by evening will receive it. Getting both 8" as well as 10" . On which to try .??

Title: Re: Multicopter flyer in mumbai, need help!!!!
Post by: IndianHobbyShop on December 24, 2013, 04:56:38 PM
10" should be fine with this motor on a 3S Lipo

1045R = CW = Clockwise Rotation
1045L = CCW = Counter Clockwise rotation

Once you fit the prop, please provide a HQ image again.
A single image from the top of the Quad would be enough.

The settings are according to this page.. http://www.badlands-rc.com/kk-v2-0-guide/
Roll/Pitch P-gain: 30 (For a small 25cm size set to 20) Roll/Pitch P-limit: 100 Roll/Pitch I-gain: 0 Roll/Pitch I-limit: 20
Yaw P-gain: 50 Yaw P-limit: 20 Yaw I-gain: 0 Yaw I-limit: 10
Now, Increase Roll/Pitch P-gain by 10 (5 or less for a small aircraft) at a time, and test your aircraft response by hovering and move the left stick in short and fast movements.................................

May be my props are only the big problem. ???

Haven't got a chance to put hands on these Nylon Props yet but these should be quite good in strength.

Infact even the plastic Props that HobbyKing sells are quite good in quality when compared to some of the locally available props.
The one from HK are made from Virgin Plastic and are light in color and some of the 'Bad' local ones are dull/dark in color and are made from recycled plastic in some cheap factory in china.

The point here is that these props have already gone through a lot of vibrations in last few days and it's justified for one of them to break.
Any plastic prop should stay intact until and unless it has gone through a lot or had a minor crash, developed Hairline crack at the hub and one still fly it without noticing the same.

Carbon Fiber Props are certainly NOT the way to begin with as they are expensive and is quite dangerous as well.
Plastic/Nylon works best when you are just starting out.

When you crash a heli, you get a big bill of repair parts and huge time repairing them. But in quads, the one and only thing that breaks is the props.
It's always good to keep good number of plastic props in stock.

Coming back to the problem:
Jerk Test seems fine. It should be the same with each and every motor. the arm you pull down, the motor on it will go faster.
Inspect for damaged props and put new ones and give it another try.

If it still doesn't works, take the quad to some local expert and he sure would be able to help out.
If nothing works out, you may send it to us and we will see is there's anything that we can do.

But i'm sure you'll find perfect people for it in Pune.

No sir today the props where used were brand new. Taken out from fresh bag..
And all other motors showing same behaviour in jerk test...
Well now it's time to meet some local person and even have contacted them. Hope for the best.. :)

Title: Re: Multicopter flyer in mumbai, need help!!!!
Post by: IndianHobbyShop on December 24, 2013, 10:46:17 PM
Hmm, BTW, did you balanced the props after before putting them on?
If yes then maybe these HK "Nylon props' might not be that good. No reviews on them yet on Hobbyking's website.

Great so the gyro is working in the correct direction as well.
yeah, It's best to meet some expert since there are just a whole bunch of checklist and anyone of them can go wrong if not noticed.

BTW, you may give the following settings a try:
http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t636/bkbtsomethingnew/IMG_20131224_220001.jpg~original

http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t636/bkbtsomethingnew/IMG_20131224_220023.jpg~original

And here's the one for AutoLevel (It's advisable to start with AutoLevel switched on)
http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t636/bkbtsomethingnew/IMG_20131224_220057.jpg~original
I have also shown the motor ESC connection on this one.

You're most welcome Kalpesh:)

BTW, i know it's tempting, but refrain from flying high at the moment.
Stay at 2-3 feet from ground and learn hovering and most importantly Orientation first.
Practise on a Simulator.

And use Auto Level Feature, You'll love it.

Ok. First I should balance the quad copter .? I mean acc pitch and roll settings make it fly stable.. I have noticed that when my copter lifts up then even though my throttle is fix after few seconds it comes down and again I have to increase throttle after 30% then it becomes stable.... And after it rises it moves to right and again comes to left ???

Yes 1.6 firmware has better autolevelling, and camera gymbal support if you intend to use it. And upgrading firmware should be the next step if you have managed to build and fly your quad.
For programming you would need an AVR ISP programmer and an optional 10 pin to 6 pin converter.

If you have KK2.0 lcd board v1.6 is latest but if you have KK2.1 lcd board KK2.1 V1.10S1 is latest.

Title: Re: Multicopter flyer in mumbai, need help!!!!
Post by: IndianHobbyShop on December 31, 2013, 12:05:56 AM
Another way of looking into it would be to set it up just as shown in the video/images so that it's easier to do the configuration.
This way you will save time, avoid confusions and you can put the same time on hovering practise and also for watching various videos over YouTube with Flying tips, etc

And once you get the hovering right, you can put energy on perfecting the flying experience with newer firmware.

A lot of answers are already available over YouTube and Google Search

I just read through the entire thread, since I am considering a quad myself. Being from Mumbai gave me an added incentive.

I got myself a FS-TH9X and intend to start on a Sim initially. I am encouraged to move to a physical model after seeing the support. Great to see such an active and helpful community.

Yup, finally my quad is working perfectly. But some issues.
When self level is off
1. My quad moves in any direction after a lift.
2. Sometimes it follows a big shm motion, pendulum motion

When self level is on
1. It drifts backwards
2. It drifts towards 3 motor. . ???

There is no official place currently that permits you to fly quadcopters in the city. If you know any of the school or college grounds you can try there. Or go little outskirts of the city to fly like I do :-)
