FLYING HIGH

Dear RC India members,

I am planning to build a Hexa with GPS and autopilot system as my final year project in B.E programme.

Being an B.E. Aero Students i want my final project to be most attractive and the best in overall performance and technical wise and then i took a decision on Constructing my own HEXA.

I want some help and suggestion from all the senior members of RC india on my model,

My HEXA Specs are as Follows:

Diameter of my Hexa is About 110cm

Metals chosen for my Hexa is CF and Aluminium.

My questions are as follows:

1. What is the Motor type i should use for my Hexa?
will 3000KV motor work with this???

2. What is GPS i should use with this?

3. Will my Project come within my budget of Rs. 40,000/- ?

4. What should be the motor Thrust required?

Waiting for Reply

Regards,
Nithin Kumar. A

Dont go for 3000kv. Go for less kv around 1000kv or less. Your budget is adequate to make s good hexa.

Hi nithinkumar2000,
I had a very stable hexa with the following setup,
1. Dt750 motors
2. Turnigy plush 25A ESC
3. 12x4.5inch props
4. 3s 10000mAh 45c lipo
5. APM 2.6 FC

You can find most of the parts from hobbyking.com and the APM from RC timer.

The above setup can be comfortably achieved within Rs. 40000. If you haven't got a radio yet, the flysky 9x would be a good option at 5-6k for a new system.

Cheers!

EDIT : I see you already have a JR XG8. Well you save even more money then  Thumbs Up

What size of hex do you want to build it depends on the all up weight
If its a 550mm then it is possible or you will have to go for 700 - 800 kv motors

Check out the link for the APM with GPS and telemetry.http://www.rctimer.com/product_1119.html
3s or 4s will depend on the motors, props and ESC used.

By diameter, you mean prop to prop distance?
What I understand is the distance between diagonal motor centers is 110 cm (1.1m)?
If you haven't flown a hexa before, please go for a smaller one. A hexacopter this big can be very dangerous.
What is the reason that you are building such a big hexa as a final year project for? What do you plan to achieve? Is it payload or stability or something else?

Why help out someone privately via PM when you can do it out here in the RC wilderness? Giggle We can learn something too from what you have to say.

Metals chosen for my Hexa is CF and Aluminium.
Not sure if you made a mistake, CF is not a metal, its a composite material.

About the project, Hexacopters are pretty good, but since you want it to be outstanding and all that, I would suggest you take a look at Y6 config multirotors (picture attached). Uses 6 motors like a Hex, but looks much cooler. APMs support Y6, so shouldn't be any harder to build than a Hex really.

good luck. Thumbs Up

FLYING HIGH

110 cm is from one motor center to opposite motor shaft
I have created my plan in CAD i will be uploading it soon.

I already fly nitro heli and gas planes even multirotors too. And I am prefering it big because of attractions and stability. .. Smiley

Hi Nithin,
As you said you are in B.E. aero you have to concentrate more on FC and its programming. Hope you understand what i am trying to say. If your faculty more strict on the concept you will be asked to explain what you have done? in that case you will have to explain how you programmed the board. you will have to explain algorithm, gains and all theories. if you want good grade out  of this project.
