Ive been reading up alot on building and flying quads and am planning to take this fascination to the next level by building my own! For my first kit i shortlisted the following from RCBazaar, Hiller Fiber250 Turbo Combo -ESC/2204 motor/CC3d/DB/6x3 Avionic RCB6i (2.4Ghz 6ch transmitter with receiver) Wolfpack White 1800mah 30C 11.1V Wolfpack W6-AC 80W Multipurpose charger Do you guys think its good starting point? Go for carbon fibre frames as they are basically more rigid. They tend to discharge unevenly therefore shortening the life of the lipo. Title: Re: New quad copter enthusiast. Any advice? Post by: Cycloned on July 07, 2016, 06:16:48 PM I do not recommend Avionic parts because it is harder to find solutions to problems online as they are only sold in India, the rest of the world does not use them.
For the frame, get a carbon fiber frame and a carbon fiber frame only. As a beginner, you will be crashing a lot, a glass fiber frame will break easily. Lastly, I suggest getting a toy quad or simulator to learn how to fly. Piloting a 250 for the first time with no experience is not a good idea. Your quad will go very fast, it is very easy to lose it or crash into something without any flying experience. FPV Freerider and Liftoff are good racer simulators. Several toy quads are available on different LHS for a few thousand bucks, practicing on one of those will make you confident to fly something bigger. Also a note, this hobby is very expensive, more so in India as parts are not available, so if you do not have good financing then it's best you don't enter the hobby. If that is not an issue, do not settle for cheaper parts because they are cheap - go for quality over quantity, it makes a big difference down the road. Good luck. |
