Title: Planning to build a 650+ drone. Suggestion needed Post by: xNitin on July 20, 2017, 08:55:18 PM I am planning to build a quad mainly for cruising around and do some aerial photography. Here is so far what I have planned:
1. Frame: Tarot Iron Man 650 or Tarot 650 Sport: The sport is costly at about 8-9k, while I can get the Ironman for less than 6k. The sport has a retractable landing gear, which is available for 2k extra if bought separately, bringing the cost of both almost same. But if I go with Ironman, I'll have one extra stock landing gear, which I plan to use for my S500. Still undecided between the two. 2. Motors: Planning to use bigger props 1555 size to try and reach 20 min flight duration. Hence chose RaceStar 380KV, 4 of which cost 4.5k. Another option is Tarot 380KV which are a little costly at 1.5k each. I'll decide based on my final cost. 3. ESC Racerstar RS30A . Cost 2k for 4 escs. 4. FC I'll probably go for APM 2.8 with GPS and telemetery. Pixhawk is an option, but it will cost more. 5. Gimbal There is a HAKRC Storm32 3-axis gimble, which is around 3.5 k. It has got good reviews on Youtube. Banggood is selling 3-axis one at 5k. 6. Camera: Xiaomi Yi with video out for FPV. Not worried about latency, since I don't see myself flying around like crazy. 7. Lipo: 4s 6000-8000mah My total budget is roughly 30-35k. Suggestions? Title: Re: Planning to build a 650+ drone. Suggestion needed Post by: Hi on July 22, 2017, 03:17:57 PM Go for it

A lot has changed in the drone world. Anyway, for the future readers, Don't use an APM. (outdated) Go for a KAKUTE F7 AIO, supported by ARDUPILOT. |
