Use a 3S LiPo and don't desire to have long flight times. Maybe a 2200mAh 20C will do.
There's nothing like a weight limit, people have made well beyond 2.5kg but for your configuration, it's better to keep below 800g.
If you haven't already purchased the motors, then check for alternatives of lower kv (700~1000kv)

 1.  well sir i have already purchased the motors ,esc, and props .
and i have orderd for the radios and others materials. i am afraid that after adding the Rx ,battery and the prop adaptors the weight might exceed 800grams .
And even im planning to mount wireless videocamera , so according to the my calculation it wouls come maximum upto 1000grams , will that be okay ?

  2. the motor shaft diameter is 3mm , will a 3.17mm prop adapter do ?
3.wat would be the approx flight time ?

First of all, don't address me 'sir'. Smiley

If you've already purchased the motors, then it should be OK. I can't say much about how much your quad should weigh, but keep it as low as possible. Aim at 900g.

And use the prop adapter of the EXACT diameter. Because the forces acting at that point are so high that even fractions of an mm matter there.
You can go for a prop SAVER that's availble in 3mm. http://thehobbyshop.in/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=36
Also, do buy extra O-bands. My O-bands get very brittle (maybe due to the heat when I tested under the 40deg sun?) and break during flight. Luckily my dt700 motor has a threaded shaft, so I had time to react. But do buy extra O-bands.

Flight time is given by Amp-rating of battery divided by total draw.
Your motors might draw soemthing aroud 40-50A, in all. So your flight time is 2.2/40 ~ 3.5 min.
I'm confused about it though, it depends on till what voltage you want to drain your LiPo. So your eff. flight time will be more than 3.5min.

Where do you want to buy from? Hobbyking/other foreign stores or LHSes?

You can buy LiPos from www.hobbysea.com. (based in New Delhi) It's better to buy 2200mAh. If your quad is flying well, then try to upgrade the LiPo.
There're many chargers available today and I use this: http://thehobbyshop.in/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=11
But I don't recommend it for you. Buy a better one and it will last you more time. (like their accucel 50W charger Smiley )

And as far as the build is concerned, please DO NOT ask me. I am very bad at craftmanship and like to make garbage. Grin
Reconsider your idea because PVC is not that strong (as strong as aluminium/Carbon fibre).

Best of luck, and what board do you want to use?

Vineet

EDIT: Okay, so you're using kk. I'm not a kk guy. Dharmik, satyagupta and many more can help you better.

well vineeth regarding the fame
1.i ahve used some think plastic pipes ..they are strong ,but not as much as aluminium ! and its a bit cheaper
2.im using the kkmulticopter board (atmega128) i have no idea about the version
3.a small doubt ! since im building a quad ..my frame isnt exactly a plus ! the angle between the two pipes varies by 2-3 degrees (approx) .will this be a matter of worry ?
4.im very much worried about the esc part ,u sure na that i wouldnt burn ? i spent alot of money on that

Yogesh bro can you post the links of motor and esc?
If you are building custom frame you have to be very precise. As you are using round pvc pipes, you will have to find the way to mount all motors exactly vertical(90 degree). And if possible try to bring the angle of two arms close to 90 degree. Aluminium beams are good because you can easily mount motors and you can drill and cut easily at home.

Hope you are using male-male wires. (http://thehobbyshop.in/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=69)
Connection to the receiver (img)

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/305954788X570126X10.jpg
quadcopter

courtesy: hobbyking

Thr is USUALLY Ch3, Yaw is Ch4, roll is Ch1 and pitch is Ch2. (MODE 2 tx)
Assuming you're making a quad +,

connect front motor to the M1, left to M2, rear to M4 and right to M3. these M1, M2..M4 are found on the right side of the board.
Notice the correct polarity. (outer pin is GND(black/brown), inner is SGNL(white/orange)
refer to http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/181205144X7478X19.pdf

always try searching on google before asking. Smiley

1.why cant you just directly connect the 4 pins in the controller board to the 4 ports in the Rx ?
2.the link which u sent me, showed the specifications of the controller board along with the firmware upgrade right ?! my question is that , do you have to upgrade the controller board to with some firmware before use ? is it not a plug and play board Huh?

HK board comes with plus config preinstalled. If you want x config or updated firmware you can flash your board using USBASP cable and lazyzero flash tool.

Hi Yogesh.

Sorry but I couldn't understand what you meant by:
1.why cant you just directly connect the 4 pins in the controller board to the 4 ports in the Rx ?

I wonder if this board including most other MultiWii boards can be called a "Plug-n-Play" board. I think to get a plu-n-play board, you need to shell out more bucks. Probably a paris v3.0 or the DJI FCs qualify as true plug-n-play boards.

how come only 2 male-male connectors are used and why Huh?

Yogesh bro let me clear few things. male2male lead has 3 wires.
the lightest color wire is signal wire. Generally darkest color is negative. On hk board pot side signal wire comes first.
Rx gets 5V from the board and board gets 5V from the ESC's BEC. For safety you have to disconnect(don't cut just remove metal pin from the plastic case) red wires from 3 ESCs and keep 1 ESC as it is. Now connect escs to the board. You can do same thing with rx.

Its personal preference buddy, you can connect 4 male to male cables from board to Rx or you can connect 2 (as shown by vineet) and thats how most of the quad builders like to do (including me) you see you get the job done with just 2 male to male cables :giggles:

Sathyagupta bhai , thank you very much Smiley
please leave your reviews and suggestions

Will drop comments if i have any relevent information, P.S. there is no 'H' in my name its 'satyagupta' thats my first and last name and i would prefer been called with that no addition/dropping of any alphabets.

VTOL - Vertical Take Off & Landing

got it yogesh

i am posting the tutorial for 3mm collet type adapter and a 8*4SF prop but the size does not matter

sorry i could not take video with one hand so i am making a step by step photo guide

1 - you need to bore the prop hole to increase its diameter (it can be easily done using one arm of a scissor or buy a prop boring tool)
2 - the required items
3 - 3mm shaft motor mounted using clamps and balsa strips
4 - first threaded part is inserted into the 3mm shaft

9 - hand screw the prop spinner
10 - use pliers to further tighten (you can also use a pin or small screw driver to go through the two holes in the spinner and rotate to tighten)

I did not intend this to be a 10 step guide to mounting the prop adapter and prop but as it happens i just did  Grin

hope this helped

EDIT - if you still face any problems please ask i shall post a video

I built my first quad with the 2822 motors. Along with the v2.1 control board flashed to v4.7. Used the cheap hk ss 18amp esc. Home made frame. And the starter 2.4g tx/rx from HK. Total weight was about 1.1kg including a 3s2200 lipo.

Used the 1045 and 1047 propellors. Was too much thrust. Replaced with 0845 propellors.

I also have a quad with CF2822 motors, HK 18amp ESCs and I am using 7x4 props.  Seems to work well. Bigger props may be too much for these motors.

I am facing a problem with my first quad which has similar setup. The motors are emax 2822 1200kv and one of them spools up late and stops intermittently Sad especially when control sticks are moved. Couldnt lift of due to this and searching for a possible solution. The said motor seems to be bit more tight compared to the other motors. Since I couldn't find any other reason, I am just assuming that this may be is due to the HK standard QC and I might be the victim this time. Though the price of this motor is very cheap compared to its specs, waiting another month to finish my home made quad is.... Sad

Have you tried changing the position of the motor?

If you are using the HK atmega board, flashed to v4.7, there is a problem with the signal to the M4 motor. You can find details of it on various forums.

You may want to use the trim to get the motor to spool up along with the others. I also tried oiling the bearings on my 2822. Seemed to help, but did not have the equipment to measure the changes.

With my setup, I found it hard to get the quad to hover and land smoothly. Was easier to fly it and crash land it. But then, I am a beginner to RC and this was my first build.

Thanks subhashr, my setup is stock firmware right now and later will change to X config. I got a tip from Pikle6 just now about stick centering which I missed. Will have to try it out and see if it helps.

That is a lesson in dealing with these ultra cheap stuff. We have to plan for the eventuality that one of the items will go bad, so I ordered 5 sets of motors and ESCs from the get go.  An extra pair is so much helpful (along with extra props) when it comes to surprises like this, and you can always use them for other (non-quad) builds.

My HK board based quad including videos are here :

http://www.rcindia.org/self-designed-diy-and-college-projects/quadrotor-build-thread/msg68732/#msg68732  (a fews posts starting there).

The CF2822 with 18A SS ESC does work fine in general.  I picked up this parts list because I saw Ashta bhai using them.  So there is definitely a history of this combination being successful, at an extremely low price point.

Anwar bhai, I did order 5 ESCs for the same reason, but unfortunately I gambled with the motor and got hit Cheesy Anyway, lesson learnt  Bang Head

And using a simple cdrom case with couple of screws was pretty ingenious !!!  Hats Off

I learnt this a hard way... I had bought just 4 ESCs and exactly 4 motors. After a crash, the crappy dt700 motor became very tight = more friction = burnt ESC.
So replaced the ESC but didn't buy the motor. I undid all the grub screws of the motor and fitted back again, but the motor was still tight.
So had to buy another motor. A total delay of ~ 1 month (thanks to HK and HKPost)
I now want to have a spare for every piece, and would NEVER want to buy dt700 or dt750 or any other bell-type motors for quads. I especially hate it's grub screw-type mount and weak build. NTM prop drive 28XX series appear to be better at a small extra cost...
