Hi ,
Thanks for viewing this thread and i would like to thank our sponsor 3Dprintronics.com
I have made small form factor Quadcopters with Aluminum , Balsa , Carbon fiber and Glass epoxy . but the problem was weight and if it is light when it crashes the model will break and the joints will be lose .
3D printing is getting famous on the internet and already people have mad 3D printed quadcopters.
I wanted to try it out and check the strength of the material (PLA)
few days back i designed a frame which is 20x20x0.7cm and i got it 3D printed from 3Dprintronics.com
since it is a single piece design without any removable joints it can take a lot of crashes and in the event of breaking something you can glue it or you can heat it and join it(not recommended )
it is very cost effective .
Here is the setup i have used
Emax CF2805 2840kv Motors
HK -15 to 18a ESC flashed with simonK firmware
3S 11.1v 1000mah Zippy's battery
5030 propellers
KK2.0 will be upgrading to APM 2.5
flysky Rx & Tx
waiting for FrSky
a whole bunch of cable ties
Testing:
The quadcopter is very agile the flight time was about 15min it took only 30-40% throttle to hover
it performed triple flip and crashed
no damage
it was really fun to fly it in windy condition
now you can buy this frame from 3Dprintronics.com or you can design one and get it printed
