Title: Ticking noise from Motor When connected to battery, Motor ceased to rotate.
Post by: corsair24 on December 08, 2013, 01:38:05 PM
Hello,

I have DYS 20Amp ESC, which when connected separately to DYS motor runs smoothly. I have performed Throttle Range Calibration, ESC is responding perfectly.

All ESC's were connected to Controller Board and gave perfect connection for Quad + configuration (along with Tx and Rx interfaced). When connecting 4s battery to the entire setup, One of the Motor is producing an Tic-Tic- Tic noise continuously. Arming operation is happening. The motor which is Ticking is not rotating, rest of the 3 motors are rotating when Throttle is increased.

Im not sure where the problem can be. Below are my config of my components used.

1. DYS 20Amp ESC

2. KK 2.1 FLight controller with LCD

3. DYS motors with 750KV, 350W

4. HK Transmitter & Rx, T6A V2 :

5. Nano Tech Lipo 4s, 4500maH, 35C. Also tried with Nano Tech Lipo 3S, 2200maH, 25C.

Please let me know if you need more details. Im not able to converge on this issue. Have you guys also ever faced such a problem ? What can be cause of this issue ? Thank you all ....

Check the connectors soldering

OK Thank you for your prompt reply. I will check it.

The same ESC when connected directly to battery and servo cable part of it to RX for throttle calibration is working fine. But when connecting all 4 ESC together and interfacing them with controller board and motor is producing this Tick noise in the motor.

Check the ESC with other motor and the motor with other ESC . I'm not into multi rotors but seems like soldering problem .

We have tried exchanging Motor- ESC combination too. But the problem still persists.

ESC works with other motors ? If it does then definitely re-solder the motor connections again.

Does the motor work with other ESC ?

This is a typical case of single phasing. It is the motor connection as pointed out earlier. You may want to try a different channel in control board where this problem is not happening.

Thanks for all your inputs. I will immediately try them and update here.

We have performed following combinations of testing :

1) That particular ESC when connected with other Motors , is throwing same ticking noise from that motors.

2) Replacing that ESC with new one with all motors, is not producing Ticking noise, arms smoothly and motor rotates.

3) Throttle Range calibration is working fine with each ESC connected to their individual motor.

@ Ausupan : What correction on motor side should we make to correct "single Phasing " issue ?

Once again thank you for all for your prompt reply.

THANK YOU ALL. It was Connectivity Problem. The bad connectivity was present between battery and ESC.. The problem is fixed now. Thank you all once again.
