Alright, I'm kinda new to this forum but have always followed it closely especially while building my planes and quads. I recently came across this ARF quadcopter kit on eBay, where this seller from China is selling the following;

250mm Carbon Fiber Quadcopter Frame ( Blackout clone obv.  )
Openpilot CC3D Flight Controller
DYS BE1806 2300KV Multicopter Motor
Hobbywing 12A ESC

The seller has the listing for a little over 200$.

I wanted to know what your thoughts on this combo. are. I am particularly interested in knowing how well the CC3D handles quads like these and other quads in general, as I only have experience with MultiWii and Naza.

So, I went ahead and bought it today 
Will do a detailed review on the frame, motors and FC once it reaches me if possible.

CC3D is really nice controller. If properly tuned you can get best out of it. This tiny controller can fit easily on mini quads but still able to fly stable.

Sorry, I haven't had enough time to update this thread.
Anyhow, the frame arrived last month and I completed the build a few weeks ago. I have to say, I'm pretty damn impressed with the CC3D Flight Controller. Setting it up and tuning it is a breeze.
The quality of the frame material seems excellent, however, the cuttings on the frame vary from one piece to another and was hence a little difficult to put together. I replaced the DYS motors with EMAX 1806 motors and the ESCs with EMAX 12A simonKs.
The quadcopter flies beautifully! The 1806 motors with 5030 Gemfan props pulls the quad like nothing I've ever flown before. I wonder what it would feel like to fly it with 6 inch props   The AUW of the quadcopter with the battery is a few grams over 400. This is without any FPV gear. I do plan on FPV-ing it in the near future, but it's amazing fun to just fly it this way. I've attached a few pics of what the quad looks like and how small it is when compared to an X525!

Great looking quad you've built, well done. Tell me, how is the Flight controller going. You sounded happy with it when you built the quad, how about now after you've given it a good run. I was looking at one and was surprised at the cost. Plus they are supposed to be bringing out other addons for it. Did you download any software for the board, if you did how easy was it to handle?

I've been a user of KK2s for some time and decided it was time to expand my horizons and get something a little different. One other question, is the board suitable for larger quads such as a 600. I purchased one about 18 months ago and they aren't available any longer, it's a big brute with more platforms than anyone could possibly need. I'm not sure if this board would be suitable.

CC3D is ver easy to configure and update Stu, i was very impressed when i tried it for the first time. It was stable with the default settings.

It would definitely suitable with the larger quads.

Thank you for your input satyagupta. I was ready to buy 2 of them this afternoon. Luckily I noticed "Due for delivery 1st February. Rats, I was looking forward to finding an alternative to the KK2. Because of the medication I've been forced to take I've developed a slight shake in my hands. It makes it awkward when trying to adjust those tiny presets. Maybe this is my answer.

After I posted here I went to RCGroups and read a few posts there about the FC. They were talking $80 a unit, I got quite a shock. They are only $20 today, A big drop and a very welcome one.That makes it the cheapest FC that I've heard about. If it's as good as you say then I'll be buying more. A shame I have a box full of KK2.1s though. I also have a few KK5 snd similar looking HobbyKing boards and only just before Christmas HK was selling those QQ2 boards. I haven't yet got mine into the air with that board so I'll be interested to see how it goes. I must admit I like the idea of the CC3d. I get the impression the manufacturer is keeping prices down to get people to try them. They say there's all sorts of addons coming for them. The biggest problem with claims such as that, is that by the time they're available the board is old hat and everyone's moved on to newer technology.

Companies should ensure they have everything ready prior to releasing such things. Obviously the biggest downfall with that is if the board doesn't attract enough attention. It means a lot of money wasted. So I guess it's a matter of faith in your product and the ability to gamble. Very few big businesses become gig without the owner making gambles. In fact some of the biggest companies make the biggest gambles. As soon as the board is back in stock I'll grab 3 or 4 and try them out. Thanks again for your help.    ,,,   Stu

I am pretty sure CC3D will outperform a KK2 because it runs a faster 32bit processor , it also has a better ground station software, I am planning to get one very soon . KK2 gained this much reputation only because of it's simplicity and easy to use (Same goes b/w DJI and APM/Pixhawk !!) .

@Propfella, Sir, Openpilot CC3D is cheaper than 20$, at banggood it is only 16$ at free shipping. you can also get it on ebay for similar price, or cheaper than that by trying your luck in bidding

OK sooraj.palakkad, that's where I originally saw them, on BangGood. I think you're quoting USD Unfortunately I'm with AUD which is 10% more. That's why I said $20. Either way it's still a very good buy and as soon as they are restocked I may grab a few of them. It would seem they are just what I'm after. I originally thought they may have been just another QQ board. From what you say and according to RCGroups they definitely aren't. Thanks got your input, I'm looking forward to trying them out. I'll also check out Ebay but I don't think I'll get them much cheaper. I find the only reason people put them up for auction is the hope they'll make more than their selling price out of them. I do buy a lot using Buy It Now though.

And I do get Very very cheaper deals from ebay mostly by bidding.

User friendly wise KK 2.1 beats all other boards because of the tiny lcd that helps on-field changes rather than the old custom of connecting a FC to computer to configuring out the FC. I think KK 2.1 is a good begineer board for a person to get adjusted to PIDs and other stuff.
