(forgot calibration = board do not get armed and ESC just beep when calibration is done again it works fine)

I have HK FC board 2.1.

I have observed that it forgets calibration randomly.

Last time it forget calibration when i reduce pitch gain.

Today i did not touch any gain settings and still it forgot calibration.

VC recommended that we should calibrate ESC before every flight.. and i understand his point.

My question is why does FC board forget calibration?

Thank you,
Atul

I do not think it is the FC's responsibility.
The component responsible for remembering the throttle range is the ESC
Which esc do you use?

Or are you taking about the receiver settings in the FC - if i remember correctly it shows idle and full at low and high throttle positions respectively (on the Tx).

FC board do not get armed if it does not know the lowest point in throttle range.

when you do calibration it understand the lowest point and works fine.

Most of time it remembers calibration but some it it just dont get armed until you calibrate it.

so my logic says FC must be storing calibration data and on specific points it must be forgetting it.

I what to know why and how?

I do not think there is anything stored by the FC wrt any channel
You need to enter into the "receiver test" section of the FC and try to get 0 values for all channels (neutral position of sticks)
You get 0 in the FC by adjusting the sub trims on your Tx.

Now verify that, when you move the sticks to extreme positions, the FC understands it correctly.

For e.g. when moving throttle to low position, the FC should read it as low. And when moving it to high position, the FC should read, full (or similar i don't remember the exact name).

ok, for now lets say calibration is not stoared in FC board.

But then question remains same: why does it work some times and why it needs to go though calibration process to work properly?

I think you need to increase EPA values. I calibrated my F-20A ESCs 6 months ago and never had to do that again. It only requires if you change one of the ESC out of three.

If you are running the 1.5 version, try n set the minimum throttle to 20 under the misc menu and redo the calibration. Try this and see.

Well, i am using TriCopter version 1.6 on my board.

When i give trim, FC board mount properly and that is not what i want to ask.

I noticed that whenever i change any pot setting board do not arm til the point i re calibrate it.

Dharmik bro, i suspect that its firmware issue ... as you have anther firmware than what i have.

Well well well... looks like I found the reason.

I am not 100% sure but suspect that this could be problem.

I use Hitec TX RX and it has feature call "Scan mode" and i have set it in scan more.

When this feature is on and you lose the single then it TX RX do not bind immediately after the signal is restored.

I think while connecting battery if leads connects, disconnect and reconnect then TX RX do not bind immediately and because of that board was not mounting.

And I was thinking that it forgot the calibration and re doing it.

Actual problem seems leads connects, disconnect and reconnect combined with Scan mode.

Will verify this and post finding here

We are always supposed to switch on Tx first and then Rx. Assuming Tx and Rx are connected, now if power is lost to Rx, we should not directly power the Rx back up.
We need to switch off the Tx first; then switch it on; After that power the receiver

The normal start up procedure should be always followed
