Hi Friends,

I was looking into different fpv options for my new scratch built quad. Then I stumbled upon this idea and would like to know if any one else has tried this. These wireless cctv things are locally available here and pretty cheap.

MODs: if its irrelevant or on the wrong area..please help by relocating as I could not find a specific one for fpv to post this.

Iyer Sir, these items are around or less than 2000 inr worth and seems to have a short coverage of 100m. But seems interesting as it looks pretty close to the name brands and works in the 900 to 1200 Mhz range. Will prob more Smiley

Hi samlikespad, It would be great if most FPV realted topics are discussed on this thread. That ways we can have one single thread for fpv equipment etc - http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/fpv-setups-guide =).Also regarding that setup you mentioned.looking at it i think its very much viable to be used for fpv as the output power mentioned is 200mW and probably with a SAW filter mod on the RX and the right antennas (not the "junk" stock antennas) at that frequency you can go more than 4km + easily but i cant see any transmitter in that picture of the product unless its built into the camera but that seems unlikely.Feel free to reply on the link mentioned above =)

I have been looking through many of such wireless security cameras through ebay . they are dirt cheap.
And yes the transmitter and camera is together in a small package ! That's why I didn't took risk with this sets - Even if they say it is 100 mW or 200mW , we can't know whether these have the disclaimed o/p power. But yes for a video link of few meters these should work.

Sooraj dear, am not suggesting it as a good option. Just being curious of the possibility of this for a beginner to try out while keeping the model LoS may be. I might try it out once I have fund to spare. Right now budget is low as one Skyzone kit is stuck with KSA customs Sad if I or someone checks it out and finds useful info, will move it to the above link....dont want to post untested ideas there.

Edit: my bad, changed mind Cheesy will continue on the other thread  http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/fpv-setups-guide/new/#new

All the FPV electronics equipment we know are derivative of cctv hacks.. only difference is that they operate in 2.4/5.8GHz bands. I too have got a set of these 1.2GHz wireless cctv, which has 50mw of output power [as per their claim] and they do have a tiny tx built into the camera housing. It just has one wire antenna and does not do the justice to the range, so with the receiver antenna. Remember one guy, nick-named ibcrazy has achieved more than km with 100 uW [yes, 100 microwatts!].
