I am a Corogamist!

Hi guys,

I am not sure if you are already aware of this. It is possible to convert your existing PPM transmitter (Any freq) to 2.4GHz technology. I just came across a discussion in spadworld where one of the forum member has converted his 7CAP to 2.4GHz. He can select to transmit either in 2.4GHz or 72MHz by the flip of a switch.. itsn't cool?

Here is the link to the post -> http://spadworld.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16480

He used ASSAN X8D hack module from
https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8354

The advantages are that

1, You need not buy a new TX for 2.4GHz.
2, All you existing model memory could be preserved and can be used at 2.4GHz without any hassel.
3, Very low cost - Hack module is about $60!..

The issues that I foresee is that you need to be a bit savvy on electronics to do it all by yourself. If anything goes wrong you may end up damaging your working TX... But its not all that complex. Further, you may loose the resale value of the transmitter.

If you do not want to do all that AND if you TX has an RF module then you could replace the RF module with a compatible 2.4GHz RF module -> For futaba here is one from ASSAN.

There are other vendors who make such modules as well.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

This is just the same as putting a 2.4 module on a module based radio (like the Futaba 9C), right ?  Except that the module is just being placed inside the radio with a switch to flip between the two.

A nice and cheap DIY mod anyways  Clap
