Title: Best FPV frequency in India
Post by: Karthick Ashwath on April 05, 2015, 11:08:13 AM
Hello everybody,

I am Karthick Ashwath, a beginner in the RC hobby. What would the best frequency for FPV be?How would Hobbyking's 900MHZ 200mW Tx/Rx & 1/3-inch CCD Camera PAL 420TVL work in crowded areas? This is because I want to use this in my robot which I may have to demonstrate in crowded areas.

Which is better?
                  Hobbyking's 900MHZ 200mW Tx/Rx & 1/3-inch CCD Camera PAL 420TVL
                                                           or
Hobbyking's SkyZone 5.8Ghz 200mw FPV Wireless AV Tx & Rx Set

5.8ghz and 2.4ghz are legal as they are WiFi bands. You'd need a video Tx specifically for transmitting video signals. Make sure your camera has video out and is not a digital recorder. Higher the frequency lower the range(not exactly right) but clearer the signal.

900mhz video, 915mhz telemetry are illegal in India and if you use it and get caught by the right people, you will for sure end up in jail or pay some huge fine(ofc only if you get caught, which you sometime will). The GSM bands here for the 2g networks are GSM 900 and GSM 1800. The GSM 900 band operates in the range 880mhz - 960mhz and uses the channels 975–1023, 0-124. The reason those kits exist are because it is legal in the US.

From what I know, everyone uses 2.4ghz for RC TxRx and 5.8ghz for Video TxRx and that is legal.
