Title: Customs problem
Post by: PSG PRAKASH on December 17, 2020, 12:07:26 AM
Friends !
Before knowing in detail, I ordered fsi6x transmitter and receiver from AliExpress and the same was hold by customs with a information  "RETAINED BY BORDER AGENCY/SECURITY FOR U".  Friends pls clarify my doubts. Is any registration or certificate necessary to import drone spares ? How can I release my order of drone spares from customs? What type of registration/certificate for those who assemble drone as hobby?

Radio transmitter and receivers are prohibited. No chance of getting them released, You may also have to pay a fine now.

Radio receivers are not prohibited, rather they need the Equipment Type Approval (ETA) from Wireless Planning Commission of India (WPC) to release from custom. Download the ETA from WPC website and forward a copy to the custom on demand and get the transmitter released.

Hey, you need not worry, I received my FS-i6X yesterday and even in my case it had that same retained by border security remark. But no need to worry, that happens when your stuff is electronic but they will return it to India post and it will be delivered to you. But I had to pay INR 2k as custom charges. And sometimes you need not. That depends on your luck  :giggle:. But yeah you will get your TX-RX

Hi,

Just to add on to what was said eariler, you could go through this link. Its a thread on this forum http://www.rcindia.org/radios-and-receivers/procedure-for-obtaining-equipment-type-approval-(eta)-from-wpc/

As a side note, even I brought my TX from aliexpress and the customs released it in 2-3 days, so i think you should be fine.

I got the same message from Chennai Customs in 2019 Q4. They held it for 3 days and then they released it. I had to pay 600/- as import duty on a 2500/- transmitter receiver. Nothing else. Do not worry bruv.
