Title: FlySky T-6 vs TH9X
Post by: Yamikishi on December 11, 2014, 02:20:00 PM
Hello there,

So, I'm a total noob getting into this hobby.

Starting out with a FT scratch build from FlliteTest. I'm collecting all the different components that I'll need.
I'm sort of stuck at which TX to get.

I've short listed the two that you see as the title of this topic. A few questions to the more experienced folks to help me decide on one:
1. Will I need 9CH radio? I plan to stick mostly to planes and might do a quadcopter somewhere down the line (that is if I do stick with this. I do have a habit of not sticking with something for too long)
2. Receivers. TH9X receivers. Are the available from stores within India and if yes, how much would one cost?
3. I think the TH9X has a swappable module (Whatever that's supposed to mean). How important a feature is that?

Thank you for your time.

A 9 channel radio like the TH-9x will be very useful if you plan to build a quadcopter with an advanced flight controller like the APM. 9 channels will allow you to switch flight modes mid flight and even have an auto flip function. 6 channels is enough for a basic quadcopter like mine. A FlySky receiver costs Rs. 735 from here: http://www.vibranthobbies.com/radios-receivers/flysky-receivers.html (http://www.vibranthobbies.com/radios-receivers/flysky-receivers.html) The swappable module means that you can remove the radio transmitting part itself and add a different module such as one from FrSky, allowing you to use receivers of that brand and have features like telemetry (real time flight data). If you have the budget, I would suggest you go for the TH-9x a good Tx is an investment if you plan to stay in the hobby.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies!

TH9X it will be then.

One other question though, do I need to send in a government approved identification when I purchase a radio of this kind? I noticed RcBazaar mentions it, did not see other sites mention anything about it though.

RCBazaar asks for a scanned copy of your ID proof while purchasing a radio. I am not sure about the policy followed by other sellers. You could probably contact them to find out.

Thanks.

Placing an order there. The bank transfer only payment method is a bummer though.
