Cool Gray  Grin

Looks like you have used solder method. Which soldaring iron you have used ?

I have two
#1 Soldron 25 watt: used for standerd electronics work  (Don't thing it's good optopn will it damage my board Huh?)
#2 12 V variable temprature : used for mobile board sodring (Dont produce enough heat to solder new wires hoever can solder small components)

12v fine tip is good for soldering the little spots. Soldron tip is bigger (unless you have the pointed ones). And with var temp irons, one can solder at lower temps.

I used the inner wires of a Cat5e (LAN) cable to attach the connector to the board. Cat5e solders easily and very finely.

Oh btw, i thought you were talking about the Tx color unitl I realized you were calling my name. It's Gary Cheesy

Hi Peter,

er9x is not an upgrade to the stock firmware. It is an alternative software for the 9x transmitter that opens up a plethora of configurable options for the 9x series of transmitters.

An analogy would be changing your PC from Windows to Linux.

Stock turnigy hardware is very good, but the stock firmware is buggy. The mixes have several problem.
With this the mixing logic is very easy and you can mix any channel to any. Other than that there are a lot of alerts like if you switchon the transmitter for long it will start beeping to warn you.  you get a 16 model memory if i remember correctly. Low battery alerts you can set the lower threshold voltage. You can switch off/on the backlight to save battery..and the list goes on. Actually it is like whatever you feel like having in a tx they are doing it in regular firmware updates.

Hi Shreekant

The er9x site speaks of some benefits, which i don't think the causal flyer might be interested in, or even comprehends completely.
I chose this mod because I wish to foray into FPV and Telemetry and move to FrSky systems

So going from simple to complex, here is what lurks on the surface

- can turn that idiotic key beeper off, esp when my little one is sleeping.
- can change the low battery alarm setting so it's not beeping all the time
- can store longer names of models (so I can store 'Boomerang' instead of 'Boomer')
- can program any switch/pot to any channel (this is different from mode selection)
- can set d/r throws individually for stick directions.
- the timer can be programmed to start automatically (rather than flipping the Trn switch, esp in my case, where I broke the switch and had to replace with a non spring loaded toggle switch)
- can have a minute beep
- can control backlight (needs a small mod)
- automatically load upto 6 models at startup, for quick switching
- a much more reliable volt reading. The stock firmware reading never matched with my balance charger (and it floated between points), this one matches
- can create custom mixes - this sounds useless but is not, most expensive radios have custom mixing, the mid range ones don't
- mixes can be assigned to switches and changed in flight via switches, or virtual switches (inputs from other channels)
- the Tx can be connected to the PC now and programmed via the PC.
- with little hardware mods, FrSky telemetry, DSM Radios can be supported, and pretty soon voice. Loads of guys have already done these. Cheesy
- can integrate with ArduPilot with hardware mods

There are many other things one can do, the list indeed goes on. But yes it only depends on what one needs and what not.

Thanks so much for these details. Good to know so much more can be done with the same TX. Since I am yet to appreciate the usage of the above complex features, would love to have the simple ones like the beep or a correct voltage reading.
Thanks
