FPV : 900MHz Vs 5,8GHz

<< < (2/4) > >>

AshwinM:
900 Mhz is by far the most crowded spectrum with GSM 900 used by most operators. Even using directional antenna multi-path interference and a phone close to the ground station responding to an incoming SMS or call will definitely cause interference.  5.8GHz is by far the least used for now :headscratch:.

How about 1.3ghz? There are a variety of manufacturers selling this rxtx. Also more you go towards 900mhz, the more servo gitters and gps lock problems.

Hi, my name is michael and i live in germany. i practice FPV (multicopter and plane) since 2 years now and plan a travel through your beautifull india.
I want to take a tricopter and a flying-wing with me for doing some fpv, making some nice films and pictures with with a onboard gopro 2 or 3 camera.

I really want to do save FPV so i think it is better to ask first what is allowed and how to manage those things peaceful. So i have some questions:

1.) Is FPV allowed in general? For example in Germany it is allowed only line of sight and you need a second pilot who sees the plane/copter all the time... and so on, lots of buerocracy...
2.) How will Police or other officials react when the see you doing FPV - might it be a difference when they see me (i am not looking indian, i have blond hair, typical european)?
2.) Which frequencys are allowed for VTX and at which power? E.g. 5,8Gz, 1,28Ghz 1,3Ghz 900Mhz / Output Power maximum 10, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 1500 or 2500mW?
3.) At which frequency are your mobile phone networks working: 900Mhz or 1.3 Ghz?
4.) Is there any aviation used frequency between 1.2 - 1.3 Ghz?
3.) RC Control - i use a 433 Mhz spread spektrum Scherrer system (max 2W RF output) as 2,4Ghz Spektrum has not range enough for me to fly secure, is this allowed to use 433 MHZ?
4.) How would you estimate something to do like e.g. flying around the Taj Mahal with no official permission?

So every information for that is very welcome to me!

Cheers!
Michael

same rules here, not strictly enforced though

with awe! better to have a local friend with you

People are flying with all of the above

3.) At which frequency are your mobile phone networks working: 900Mhz or 1.3 Ghz?

900

4.) Is there any aviation used frequency between 1.2 - 1.3 Ghz?

yes

People are flying with it, incl using it for video

4.) How would you estimate something to do like e.g. flying around the Taj Mahal with no official permission?

It is a restricted area, even ovrflight is not permitted, however from the other side of the river i guess photo should not be an issue, moment you land up there get in touch with a local guide he should facilitate

I have tried airframes from the easy star /Shikra size  and  2-3 skywalkers my vote goes to FPV raptor the 1.6 and 2 m . The planes flying characteristics are the best  of the lot and very very dependable and predictable beyond sight even upto 4000 m  . The blow molded fuse is a very useful additional feature .

As for freq. I would never risk it on 900 or 2.4 , 5.8 is a good choice but  wave propagation in humid climes could be a problem for using it in costal areas , should be OK in the drier climes of inland India . 1.3G is  very reliable .

In fact one of the  most handy FPV plane good upto 2000 m is the Mini Skywalker  at 800 mm wing span I have this in a fully loaded version that includes AP and Video  a tight fit though . We just throw it in with the luggage when out on a long drive or week end trip and have done FPV flights  at various places . Great platform if you want to do FPV anywhere and everywhere.
