The best person to answer on this thread would be saurabh. He has already converted his turnigy 9x into a 2.4ghz frsky module.

With telemetry -

Without telemetry -

His thread on converting a turnigy 9x into a frsky module -

I wonder why none of the great minds here have tried to do a DIY telemetry display for frsky.

I found a link of one such DIY project

There are many telemetry projects, http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/frsky_telemetry_project.shtml
But I am not sure what will be the need of all these info for non fpv flight, except the battery voltage indicator which can be replaced by a cheap low voltage buzzer.

you will not be able to hear the buzzers if you flying very high and its windy. Also these telemetry data give you an idea like a fuel indicator that is nice isn't?

rather than a separate display we need some integration to turnigy display, that will be cool

Yes there is one project like that but then you need to modify the frimware of turnigy 9x with the custom firmware. I like the v2 Tongue so dont want to change it.
