Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask you guys whether the flysky 9x transmitter will be good for flying on glow engines because im planning to get into glow and dont want to lose planes because of this, also if it wont could you suggest me any good barter tx which could work with it because i dont want to buy another transmitter so if anyone is ready to barter their 6/or whatever channel tx which could work with glow with my new flysky 9x if they're into electrics only because it is amazing for it.

Thanks

What about the range with the stock module? i dont want to lose a plane because of loss of range,is it reliable for it?
Tonight Im Flyin' You.

Rc Mumbai.com

stock module gives a range of about 2 to 2.5km
i guess that is sufficient enough

2.5Km with flysky is just an imagination. they fly good for some 800-900meter max and that is twice of what you normally fly.
what really matters is the glitch free operation in the max possible range than aiming for a long range as you can neither see nor operate a glow model more than 500meters.
P.S: i have a turnigy 9x with FRsky telemetry module and its tested working for almost 1KM without LOS in a roadway with some bends and lot of forest. the manual says it good for 1.2KM and people chatter a lot that they are getting around 2KM.

With dji v2 and osd which shows distance from take off
I dont chatter For your kind information ashok

Ground to ground range test
Achieved 1.6km
Ground to air distance is always longer then ground to ground

Priyum, that question is bound to start a debate!

The problems with the stock RF module are best understood once one shifts to a much resilient module like the FrSky. All RF modules have their own problems so it will not be right to demean any one module. Different people have had different experiences. Some have lost binding mid air (me), some have had over 100 safe landings and still flying (many). I only 'saw' the problems once I shifted to FrSky because probably I wasn't too willing to accept the problems till I was flying on the stock module. Besides there is no guarantee that signal failures will not happen on any other module by reputed manufacturers.

Fly in a safe zone without too many people around... if you face any glitch, do not use the stock module. In the words of a very senior aeromodeller on this forum, "While flying, the one thing one always needs is peace of mind"

And yes 1.6 Km LOS maybe achievable on the stock 9x module, but only in really open fields, dry day, ideal position of antennas etc. One wouldn't see a 60 size glow plane properly at that distance!

And you dont have to buy a new tx... if that module gives a problem, just get a new RF module... FrSky works very well.

Girish Sir,thank you so much for your valued feedback.
This question does raise  eyebrows for sure but taking in the positive feedback about the stock module,i would be going ahead with it as i wouldn't be flying that far, just maybe 600-700 meters and that too small glow planes like arising star or boomerang so hopefully i have safe flights!

Thanks to all,

Chatter chatter, what's the matter  :giggle: :giggle:

Technically your radio doesn't know and doesn't care if your model is Nitro Powered or Electric. Only thing could be vibrations passing to the Rx; this in any case should be wrapped up in soft foam, as a standard good practice.

I personally have seen FS giving range problems at 200 metres. Twice. ie 2 different radio sets

Priyum

Oh god i've landed in jeopardy yet again, sir please if possible would you be having any second hand or used transmitter like futaba or spektrum that you could barter for my new transmitter or atleast give a few tips so that i dont lose my plane because i'm sure i won't be able to buy another glow plane if my fist one crashes.

I don't. Try Girish though....there may be a chance

Priyum

Thank you for your reply, girish sir, please reply if you have a spare tx?

Priyum,
I did not really have a positive answer to the 9x stock RF module so there should be nothing affecting your decision to move away from the stock module, esp for nitros. The tx hardware is wonderful. The RF module hardware not wonderful; but its hard to realize; I realized it very late.

Since you already have a flysky 9x, all you need is this:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14349__FrSky_DJT_2_4Ghz_Combo_Pack_for_JR_w_Telemetry_Module_V8FR_II_RX.html

A few LHS also stock this. You will have to do the searching.

PS: Unfortunately I do not have a spare Tx at the moment.

I think Failsafe system is essential for Nitro models. Frsky module has "Failsafe" system that is the main advantage having Frsky.  :hatsoff:

A little late for this thread.

Its like driving a normal car and moving to a luxury one. you never know the difference until you move back to a normal one. there are lot of good features like timer, throttle cut in Fs Th9x and a FRsky module makes it more reliable instead of putting more investment to a new radio. There are lot of things to look out for in a Glow model and they are no simpler like electrics and a reliable radio is a first and foremost one.
