i want to go for a 7 channel radio, or atleast 6 channel, futaba and spectrum are available options..
pls tell me advantages and drawbacks of both...

Buy a regular Module based radio .
Then I would buy  2.4 G Conversion package of Corona OR Assan or similar  and use that to convert the radio to 2.4 G.
I would not buy either the Futaba or the Spektrum 2.4 G  6 channel OR even  a 7 or 9 channel 2.4 G for that matter .
The reason being :
1) The receiver cost for the 2.4 G of Corona or any other brand is far more cheaper than the original Spektrum/ Futaba receivers , hence it makes it far more economical  in the long run
2) When you have both the modules ie 2.4G and the regular 72/35/40 Mhz  your older receivers are not a waste and can be used with the conventional module
In fact Ismail had posted a link of a person using  both modules on the same tx with a switch .

Most of the credit of what you are seeing goes to the speed of the servo used. Radio latency plays a part, but the key ingredient in such responsiveness would be the speed of the servo.


It is tray type, fairly bulky and has the same Windows based () software as the 14MZ which has some unique features, but also sucks up battery and is fairly complicated.  People either love it or hate it like anything. 

I would agree with Sai here. But it would be unwise to  totally outcast OEM systems like Futaba/JR/Sanwa etc. They have been proven over the  time and there is a huge user base. If you plan to make just too many Foamies like MR Ashta, get and old 7-9 CH FM Radio and Hack it! but if you are going to stick to Nitro/Gasser (and hence lesser no of planes), stick to OEM. I dont say Assan /Corona are bad, but OEMs are more De-facto for bigger planes.

Lately third party 2.4G receiver (Clones or what ever you call) are spilling in the market. If they fare as good as Hack Rx, sticking to OEM 2.4GHz system is better.
