Title: Heated Up FlySky CT6B, Never Turn On
Post by: sousube on October 29, 2014, 03:04:00 PM
Hello RCIndia,
I'm a very beginner to RC Stuff. I was making a rig that hold my camera and perform a Pan and Tilt Motions and trigger my camera to take picture. I own a FlySky FS CT6B Tx and Rx set. I had completed my Pan and Till options. I was testing my RC Tx and Rx for a camera trigger action together connected to my PC. Everything was done bare open. I was using a 3s LiPo Battery.
My FlySky suddenly got heated up in my lap  ??? , I just removed the battery and looking around the Tx. There was no smell of burn, but a small black semiconductor part named 78M05 on it was very hot. Few mins later, i again connected the battery and tried to turn it on. Nothing was happening, LED was not burning... I'm afraid that, I would have fried my TX :banghead:. Plz Help What should I do now. :help:
Please let me know you no. I would like to talk to you for better clarification. This is mine: 9543417492

oh 78M05 is a regulator ic
you can check its out put,  is normally 5 volts in tx.

Just replace the voltage regulator IC, To check whether this IC is the only culprit, you could also try giving a external power supply, for more help , please post a close up picture of the burned part, And I could mark the pins of that IC on the picture.
Or just search for datasheet of 78M05.

Here you go attached datasheet of 78M05 , Refer it for identifying the three pins of the IC. the one in Tx should be SMD , that is the D-PAK package in the datasheet.

Normal LM7805 can be used for replacement.

Thanks Guys... Hi sooraj, nothing is burnt, but it just got heated up and never turned On again. Here in Chennai I tried to get 78M05, i could only get the 7805. Can I use the 7805 VR in replacement to 78M05.
Hi akhilzid, is 7805 and LM7805 are same. When I ask, they say they just have the 7805 Voltage Regulator.

They all are same, You can use SMD component or also the regular package., But mind the pin configuration.
Youcan use any 7805

7805 outputs max 5v 1Amps
And 78M05 outputs max 5v 0.5ma
In this case you can use both.

Thanks Both... :hatsoff: So should I change the Voltage Regulator Now. Will my FlySky come alive again... What do you guys think...

before replacing,
just check resistance between Voltage Regulators output pins to make sure that was not shorted.

then

check voltage output of regulator in your tx , if that showing 5v and still no light from led, then something else going wrong,

How can I check that? Can you suggest me how. Do you mean to use a multimeter like device....
