dx8

any 1 tried the dx8 yet?

telemetry looks interesting if they can get like a hyperion e-meter to work with it to get a mah warning, should be able to get through frame loss, like 400 frame loss= 4000 mah and then a vibe and sound signal

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

The US forums are flooded with DX8s these days, as Horizon Hobby has an extra AR8000 DSMX receiver free offer. So people are buying a new radio, keeping the two receivers and one telemetry unit, and selling the radio alone after deducting the price of just one receiver.  In effect, they are getting one AR8000 receiver and one TM1000 telemetry unit for free (of $175 value) !

Anwar The Dx8 option looks really good. WIll chck the forums...

With the DSMx protocol they seem to have overcome some DSM2 issues and its backward compatible with DSM2 receivers w/ telemetry.

The Futaba 8FG chip reportedly has telemetry capabilities as well. They may decide to open that up with a simple firmware upgrade!

Hi All,
I have not used DX8, but using HITEC's "Optic 6" & "AURORA 9". The telemetry feature is really doing very well.

Without any extra sensors you can get your receiver's low battery alarm on both & on AURORA 9 you can have live display of RX Battery Voltage.

I also added sensors like RPM sensor, GPS Sensor, Temprature Sensors(2nos.) & a fuel level sensor. With these I am getting real time diaplay on my AURORA 9's screen & the OPTIC-6 needs a interface module by which you can see all these parameters (speed, altitude, fuel level, engine rpm, battery voltage & temprature of 4 stations.)  on a computer.

Regards,
Vivek

Telemetry is indeed a boon for electric flyers, who will get the maximum yet safe flight time from their lipos (following the 80/20 rule).

It is better to do a google search and find answers ourselves rather than to post anything in this forum. It wasnt anything funny about it as telemetry data is capable of transmitting engine rpm and dx8 transmitter do have a vibration alert apart from audible alert, which it should quite possible for it to program for a vibration allert based on rpm. So before posting an useless reply it is better to know completely about it.

here is the excerpt from the specs http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/spektrum-dx8.html

This is why the data of a flight is recorded for later analysis and the best part about this is you can program alarms into the radio (both audible and vibration) to warn you if any of the telemetry readings you are monitoring wonder outside the parameters you set.

Forcefeedback would be kool! but as it is i am trembling when my heli is in the air

BTW heard that there is some backward compatibility issues with the DX8. There was a recall of affected PIDs by Horizon Hobby

foamy bhai - looks like Ujjwana's comment was just a funny take on the your of your phrase "force feedback" Smiley

The vibration alert is an interesting (and pretty well known) feature in this radio, and there is already an advisory/recall out on it for certain batches of DX8, where the vibration alert being triggered causes loss of signal.

RC-ites!!

I have invested in DX8  -- ETA with 2 recievers end July'11.

Just took the plunge today being a novice in RC to invest (scrapping all loose change Tongue into pounds) in a good radio reading so many suggestions/advise/comments. Keeping fingers and toes crossed will have it tested for all gimbal issues / firmware issues before it gets picked from London and hand delivered  Smiley

Meanwhile it will be Phoenix Sim 3.0 from 11Jul11

End of July/ early August, will share a detailed report on DX8

Cheers,
Arun

Hi  Grin,

The Spektrum DX8 is in my hands finally and being a novice it is infested with bells & whistle's... Did a few tests of binding with Rx's & Telemetry works well - need the adapter for ESC for motor RPM, it came with Temp & Voltage adapters, which I believe is enough. The TM1000 telemetry module has a 4-point micro connector ' x-bus ' and the respective modules are available in Sept'11. The LCD screen has been configured for Lat Long, Alti, Airspeed, etc.

Btw I was able to integrate with the Phoenix Sim in a breeze & my wish: if only I could wriggle off this weekend committments, unfortunately not..

http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Support.aspx?ProdId=SPM8800

Bang Head investment, yet to get of the ground  Head Scratching it should be its worth it weight when i reach a toddler's stage of the learning curve from a RC neo-nate...

A good weekend to all,
Cheers,
Arun
