Title: INDIA'S own first radio design competition from RcBazaar
Post by: RcBazaar on October 30, 2013, 03:04:12 PM
We take this opportunity to announce that we are in the design process of developing our first 9ch radio. We would like to get as many designs and views on how the software should be as this radio will be developed and designed for us and by us ONLY.
This will be the first truly INDIAN radio that we plan to launch not only locally but also internationally.

Anyone who wants to be a part of this he / she can submit the design to us by email  - enquiry@rcbazaar.com
there will be a cash prize of rs 10,000 for the winner and there will be only one winner and the last date of submitting this would be 15th November 2013 midnight.
RcBazaar will have the final authority in selecting the best design

This project will be undertaken in 2 phases
1. DESIGN / LOOK OF THE RADIO AND RECEIVER
2. SOFTWARE OF THE RADIO

Design
- you can send us designs by hand drawings on sheets of papers (soft copies only) or by CAD or any other software files you feel is comfortable. Pls email them only to enquiry@rcbazaar.com
Please consider the ergonomics of handling a radio from a beginner to experts.

Software
- you can recommend features of the radio. Again pls keep in mind the beginner and also expert during your recommendations

we will keep pushing this post on the top till the 15th November so we apologize for any inconvenience caused to the members.

NOTE: we will take the rights of owning all the designs and we might amend or change the designs as per our requirements.

All the best RCBazaar

i am just a beginner and i don't know how a radio works and other stuff.
but it would be great if the radio's software is made from Android open source platform.
i don't know whether its possible but just an idea.

thank you  :)

Best of Luck RCB!
Include telemetry too!

You could include a fpv system within the transmitter  and reciever setup so that it does not need another reciever at the griund station and by just plugginig in a screen, we can see live  what the plane is seeing...

Nice initiative...

Best of luck rcbazaar.
You could make the software open source so people can use whatever software they want (based on flysky fsth9x as there are many softwares available for that)

Woah topalle that is too much, remember ideas that are good and can be implemented cheaply, an in built fpv system will be costly and unnecessary.

Great initiative sujju sir, but instead of 9, why not 10 channels? we already have a good 9 ch radio for cheap(FS-TH9X/Turnigy 9X), even flysky is bringing out a new 10Ch radio, this can give a competition to that :).

Some basic functions for beginner as well as expert:
3-Model Type Programming (ACRO/GLID/HELI)+ Boat and Multirotor if possible ;D
atleast 20 Model Memory
Fail-Safe
Dual Rate & EXP
Sub-Trim
Servo Reverse
Servo Monitor (Monitor & Servo Test)
Trainer
Throttle Lock
Telemetry
Easy Mode change function, like in RCB6i
Mixing: Ailevator,v-tail,crow/camber,elevon,spoiler,flaperons,tailerons.
Nitro/electric function
air brake
Many more but dont want to make a huge post, will email ;D

Also some key physical functions like 3-position switch, at least 2-pots, temporary toggle switch, quad ball bearing gimbals if possible, removable module and Frsky/orangerx module compatible, good range, 1.5km, detachable antenna, lipo compatibility, software update port etc. ;D if this radio has all this i will surely buy one (:|~

neil sir having 20 character model naming and telemetry would require a bigger screen costing more.

Post by: RCNeil21 on October 30, 2013, 05:26:13 PM
Nitesh no sir(lol now i know how roman feels ;D) And i am just 4 years older to you so bro is ok with me,

And flysky 9x when upgraded with er9x has 20 model memory and still a small screen :) telemetry and model memory are software functions not a lot of space required.

Dint understand one thing RCB(if competition runs in two phases then how can there be one winner?
if software recommendations are from one person and design from different person then?

I didn't talk about the model memory but about the characters

Post by: RCNeil21 on October 30, 2013, 05:36:44 PM
Oh still if this is a 9ch system then we need character naming from A-Z and nos from 1-9(with at least 2 assignable numbers per model and 4-6 assignable alphabetic characters per model) this radio is gonna go to international clients too so it has to have a punch and give other systems good competition. Not asking to give competition to aurora 9x or Jr DSX9 but at least to flysky and other low cost models.

No need to worry about the stupid/bloody customs now  {:)}.

Its better you resolve all the errors in Avionics RCB7X, instead of designing a new radio. It will save lot of time and money.
The features and look & feel of the avionic RCB7X is far better than some other cheap Chinese radios.

Its really a very good initiative. wish you all the best. You are almost creating a revolution in Aero modeling. Keep it up.

In short..i will be more interested in using the power of android and PPM in designing the Tx.
long back i read somewhere that some one was designing a radio based on such idea. where all major features of todays transmitter is available on a 7" LCD screen.
Yes. FPV will be part of it but features of Autopilot, Google map, Way point bla bla bla....will be available on that open platform.
one can use the open platform of Android to design this.
Hope the designer or creator will understand in much better way than i can imagine.
Best of Luck...
Sandeep

It will make history. :P

How will you get good range with android? its not possible unless you tap into nearby phone tower or have a module connected to the android device for extended range. :)

I think making a radio that is compatible with the open source softwares available for the flysky/turnigy 9x will automatically make this radio more user friendly. Then this radio will be able to utilize the huge community support the 9x has. Another way to go would be the arduino  route. A commercial radio based on arduino would be an instant hit among the maker/hacker community. Whatever you guys plan to do, try to make it open source.
@RCNeil21: The range is not dependent on the software :P Moreover the android software is not really intended for such applications. But a radio can be android compatible, such as the 3DR Radio modules. Android systems have huge latency and are only suitable for slow planes or for autonomous flights.

please think of HDMI connectivity so one can use any mobile/ tablet /monitor/lcd-LED TV   as tx screen;)

Sorry, i meant that if it is made using android then it will be available for mobiles, tabs etc. They dont have a good range for flying rc.

Hi there

I am a newbie to this forum. As you have mentioned that RCB7x has some errors in it... Could you please mention those flaws. As I am planning to buy RCB7x. Would you suggest some more Tx/Rx in that range (regarding price and features). I do not know whether its correct to post this here as I am new to this and excuse me if I did anything wrong.

Shaykz

What is this material ?

Found this stuff on road , must be some packaging material accompanying fridge or electronics
It's more than sufficient quantity to make a couple of scratch built

We got only 2 entries emailed to us and both were not fine with us (but thanks to the 2 members here for the excellent effort and we will send them a gift from our side for making this attempt)...
Unfortunate to see such a low response ( But I am sure we will have 10 times more response on what should have been done or not once we launch the radio... but such is life)

We are designing this ourselves with the manufacturers and work on this has started from 16th November 2013...
