Title: JR XG 7 radio
Post by: Ajay JM on December 19, 2010, 07:59:33 PM
Hi all

I am a newbie in this forum  :salute:
Kindly excuse and guide me if my post here is a repeat. I did a search but couldn't find an existing JR XG 7 post.

Looking for advice from the veterans here on buying an JR XG 7 radio. :help:

Two reasons why I want to go for it

1. It is from JR
2. It supports 110/230V

Agree, I can get a convertor and stick to Futaba or Spektrum. But thinking why not the new JR XG7. I
see it on ebay-US.

http://cgi.ebay.com/JR-XG7-2-4Ghz-DMSS-RG831B-Mode-2-XG7-M02-/170572948651?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item27b6f0a4ab

Also, any govt approval related problems that I would face in India?Anything else I may be missing?

I wanna put up my JR Rx on a trex 500 3g flybarless.

Thanks in advance, all

This thread discusses the issue (although the XG7 is only pointed to in an rcgroups.com link) :

It is supposed to be a better RF link. On the down side, you will not find cheap second hand or 3rd party receivers for a while.

Any 2.4Ghz is pretty much the same for regulations, and you are never really 100% clear if you imported/brought it with you.  But then that is how pretty much everyone operates, and carrying it with you is not a problem in general.  This issue has been discussed so many times, no point in me repeating it again.

Thanks Anwar; and nice to know you hail from Thrissur :)

I've read about the XG7 compatibility problems in the recent past, but I am not really looking fwd to backward suitability, 'cos I don't own a good 6ch or greater radio anymore except for my stock esky one. Again, the ebay sale includes the 8ch RG831B rx.
So I am looking at a lifetime with no more 3rd party rx if that is not calling myself a bit overconfident  >:D

I would be carrying it with me on my return trip along with my 3 helicopters(hopefully), whenever that happens. I pray I don't have to sell them out at the "customs" :)

And where do you sneak out and fly in Kerala without much local attention  or you fly only in Doha ;D. Let me in on your little secret!

So, is it a go ahead from your side on the XG7?

I wouldn't bring 3 helicopters and a radio all together, at least not without spreading them in multiple checked in bags :o

We find local schools, colleges etc (being in touch with your alma-mater helps!), or paddy fields near our houses in summer ;D

About the radio, it is too new, so I cannot make any personal recommendations other than "it is from JR, it is their next step in technology, so it MUST be good".  Caveat Emptor !

Ofcourse, I would be spreading em . And it's not one radio.
It's gonna be 3  ;)
One 4ch, esky 6 ch and the new 7ch I might end up buying. I might even get them there in 2 hoilday trips or so.

Yea, primarily what worries me too is it's new. So I'm a bit skeptical and thinking of waiting a bit.
Howsoever, every morning I wake up and make sure it is still available in ebay  (:|~

You fly your helis too in the fields there? No local distractions? I'm quite surprised!

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hope to meet up some time :)
