Title: One reason why Spektrum radios lose binding
Post by: anwar on December 20, 2009, 11:31:29 AM
Santhosh noticed this behavior.

When the receiver battery does not have enough power, the Spektrum receiver loses its binding with the transmitter !  This probably explains why some people find that they lose binding on the ground occasionally.  Most probably this happens at the end of a day of flying the same model a few times, until the receiver power is low enough.  But it is noticed during the start of the next flying session.

Anyways, it is good to see some consistency in the behavior as to why Spektrum receivers lose binding inadvertently.

After repeatedly losing the binding, Santhosh recharged the receiver battery, and everything was fine after that.

A couple of times I have noticed that when I connect the battery to the ESC/BEC, the lights on the twin receivers of RS6200 blink alternatively. Is this binding loss? I have also noticed that if I disconnect the battery and reconnect it after few minutes, then sometimes it goes away but sometimes it stays till I replace battery (even though the battery still shows 12.4v). What is this behaviour?

This post describes in good detail when the blinking occurs.

Basically, it either shows [1] you had a receiver power issue/reset, or [2] the same two channels were encountered after a restart (which is just another case of [1]).   This is a side effect of the Quick-Connect feature in the current firmware of Spektrum receivers.

Another good explanation here :  http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t476343p1/  (see the 10th post by "Pinecone").

In your case, since you are just starting a new flying session, the most likely scenario is this :

The receiver had a quick connect in the few seconds when you were struggling with the connectors (while getting them properly inserted). You can safely ignore this warning blink.

BTW, in these cases, the binding is NOT lost.

Hi Anwar,

I have already detailed this behavior when I was flying Spektrum!! It had happened to me once when I was sharing the same battery pack for the motor and the Rx!! I dont remember whether I posted it here or on the other forum!!

There are two distinct issues in this thread.

[1] Loss of binding when receiver power is borderline (on the low end).

[2] Blinking due to "quick connect" under various circumstances (including during initial connection), but NO loss of binding.

Just wanted to clarify for everyone.
