I bought a turnigy 9x from RC Bazaar. I read a quite a few reviews about the radio and am a little confused. Many pple have posted that there are signal problems with the Radio , they say that the range is very less . Wanted to clarify whether its true or false. Thanks for clearing the doubt.
If the range is less,  is it possible to install this module or i would say is this module compatible with the radio

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14349__FrSky_DJT_2_4Ghz_Combo_Pack_for_JR_w_Telemetry_Module_V8FR_II_RX.html

If not then , can someone please suggest something....

Turnigy from RcBazaar ?

Did you mean Flysky from RcBazaar ? Both the transmitters are same, but different brand name.

My personal experience, it has never lost a signal except once, when the module was physically loose at the back.

I am on to the er9x firmware and since then it looks great (although the firmware has nothing much to do with signal loss).

Thanks Girishsarwal , was just a little skeptical reading all the reviews... actually would be trying this radio with a new plane ( so new radio , new plane ) so just clarified it.
I also heard about the radio antenna , advised to keep it perpendicular.. is it all required...

I keep the antenna tilted at about 80 degrees though i've never felt any difference between 0deg and 90。 I typically fly in a small area and do not take the craft far away.

Regarding the modules, the flysky has interchangeable modules whereas the turnigy requires the antena to be desoldered.

If you're not looking for expensive solutions like Phoenix, Realflight, Aerofly or Clearview, you can use free stuff like PPJoy and smartpropoplus with FMS or RC Desk Pilot. FMS looks a little amateurish and refuses to render textures on NVidia cards but RC Desk pilot works well with NVidia, ATI and Intel on boards. Combo works well with TGY 9X. I've used the same. You might have to tinker a little bit with the settings, its worth the effort. Take out the module from the back after connecting the setup.

Not really, most of these are done in OpenGL 1.2/DirectX 9 and your Onboard Intel 945is perfectly capable of rendering them. FMS has a bug where it does not work with Nvidia cards. FMS will not show you textures properly on NVidia cards, you'll instead see the screen flickering, Alternatively, you will have to turn off textures from the menu. I suggest use RC Desk Pilot, you will enjoy the graphics. All the best

"I used a stereo audio cable as that was what I had on hand and the price is almost the same for the mono. No USB dongles needed. Like I mentioned in the video, you need the Smart Propo Plus software from Sourceforge."

now i can add many more rc stuff to my order ....... saved a lot  Indian Rupees Indian Rupees Indian Rupees over USB dongle  Clap Clap Clap

Orange Rx use spektrum's DSM/DSM2 and some use Futaba FASST, both not compatible out of the box with the T9X/FS9X, unless you upgrade your firmware to er9x (voiding the warranty, if any). er9x support DSM2 but I haven't tried; yet to confirm.

Regarding the version, version 2 should be compatible with all new Txs. Order them from hobbysea.com. Confirmed works.

If you plan to change the firmware, do not forget to do the backlight mod as well.

Sorry, I read your post very late, just to answer, yes a normal audio cable works well. Although a mono is recommended, the stereo works equally well. The only problem is the port is at the back, so if kept on the table, the cable often gets twisted and at times, snaps. If you can get hold of a cable that has a 90 deg connector on one end, it will last longer.

Yes, software such as Phoenix only recognize USB dongles as valid input devices.

Smart Propo Plus with PPJoy/vJoy on the other hand emulates a joystick, so what it does is registers itself as a joystick driver with the system, takes the input signal from you mic/line in/audio in port, (which connects to the sampler on your audio card), transforms the PPM to valid joystick axes movement and your RC sim sees the joystick signal . All in all, any RC sim software that supports input via a joystick (such as RC desk pilot/FMS) can be used with smartpropoplus, whereas RC sim software that only work with dongles, will need a dongle to run.

PS: Since your audio card connects to an ADC inside, you can also create a simple but useful oscilloscope similarly using free software.
