There is no such brand website of avionic products. But i think sujju sir should make one.
Avionic is an indian brand and i dont know the exact term but its a sub company of RCBazaar. Avionic is a brand of rcbazaar, so you will find avionic products only with them. This is as far as i know.

That looks amazing really stylish design, but i wanted to know what is the max range of the rx? and is the link reliable?
Dont take offence sir but just questions i always ask when product in question is tx/rx.

If the range of rx is above 1km then its awesome.

I hope you set the price just right like you always do sir.

Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:18:01 PM
Sujju Bhai and Team RCB have entrusted me to review the RCB 6I – 2.4GHz, 6 Channel Transmitter and Receiver. Keeping in mind, my rather limited knowledge, I wonder if I am the best person for this job. Further, a wonderful review by Brian has already been posted. However, I shall try to do some justice to Sujju Bhai’s faith in me. Since the only other 6 Channel Tx (that I am aware of) available at this price band is the HK T6 V2, I will do a comparative analysis of the 2 sets.

Title: Re: RCB6i - 6Ch tx/rx with back lit screen SOON...
Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:20:05 PM
The set arrived yesterday, unscathed. Box contained the Tx, an Rx and the manual. Team RCB had kindly included a Tx Strap. First off, it has a rather solid feel when compared with the rather plastic feel of a HK V2. It feels good to hold it, the matte finish definitely helps. The contours of the set ensures a much more comfortable feel.

Title: Re: RCB6i - 6Ch tx/rx with back lit screen SOON...
Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:26:31 PM
The first thing that hits you is the appearance of the set. It is slim and therefore looks smaller in comparison with the HK set. When you place them side by side, the RCB 6I is a tad bigger on the facia! The antenna design is unique, though once it is pulled out; you can only fold it in one direction.
There is also a foldable handle that can be stowed away into a recessed cavity. These little things that have been incorporated save space and add to the convenience.

Title: Re: RCB6i - 6Ch tx/rx with back lit screen SOON...
Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:29:07 PM
The RCB set is significantly lighter in weight. HK set weighs 692 grams (uses 8 AA batteries) as against 608 grams (uses 4 AA batteries) of the RCB 6I. The RCB set can easily accommodate a rechargeable pack as the female adaptor is present; whereas in the HK set, it will have involve a DIY soldering.
This set has a backlit LCD display that is a Knockout when compared with the other.

Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:32:47 PM
Another winner is the switch to convert the set from Mode 1 to Mode 2. This feature will make life a lot easier for old timers who grew up flying Mode 1.

Title: Re: RCB6i - 6Ch tx/rx with back lit screen SOON...
Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:37:08 PM
Popped in the batteries and switched it on and the TX started beeping rapidly with the word GAS on its backlit LCD display. The Throttle stick was in mid position. Brought it down and the display now showed a voltage readout of 6.22V.
On the display, the Trim tabs looked centred, however, as I fiddled with them the set beeped with each press of the tab and then when the dead centre was reached it emitted a reassuringly longer and louder ‘peeeeeep’. ;)

Title: Re: RCB6i - 6Ch tx/rx with back lit screen SOON...
Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 02:49:14 PM
Arun - with this Tx one has the unique capability of conducting a 'reduced Tx power range test'. What this means is that the flyer can reduce the transmitting power of the set and carry out the range test from a much more (practical) shorter distance. From this distance, one can hear the engine noises and see the movements of the control surfaces.

With other transmitters, the range test involves going the distance and having someone else call out the results while you calibrate the Tx.

I will attempt to elucidate further once I get to take it to the field. For me to do a range test practically now is next to impossible for a few reasons - inclement weather as it is pouring cows and buffaloes in Guwahati, there is a medical emergency in the family and flying is the last thing on my mind now.

From the initial feel of the set -at the quoted price of Rs.2650/- this is nothing short of a STEAL.

Will continue this review soon.

Sir I have seen a few comments that this set will be good for the newbies to this hobby. Can you please tell me how to add a Simulator to this transmitter so that I can learn how to fly using this set ? This will come as a great help to me. Please add all accessories I would require ,with links where relevant.

Post by: VC on October 03, 2013, 04:46:00 PM
Thanks Arun. Will convey your good wishes.

rc_novice, I quote from page 17 of the manual supplied:

"DSC CONNECTOR FOR SIMULATOR/S"

Although fully digital, your transmitter is equipped with a connector named DSC (Direct Servo Control) delivering a PPM signal for controlling analog (sic!) simulator on PC...........................To initiate the PPM signal, insert the 3.5mm cord into the jack DSC connector then turn on the transmitter."

I guess RCBazaar will be the place to enquire about the 3.5mm jack / cord.

Sir please excuse my ignorance. Should I need to download a free flight simulator from internet ? Can you please give a few names /links etc or  I need to buy a flight simulator instead. In that case what can be bought and Where should I inquire for that ?

As an expert to this hobby do you recommend this Tx set for a newbie like me ?

Sorry being late , but I pray for quick recovery of whom ever got the medical emergency....

@novice - First - I am NO expert. There are a lot of free simulator software available on the net. I have them but don't use them. Second - I don't have the 3.5mm cord. if I did, I would have hooked it up and given you a positive clarification on the subject. Let me check with RCB and get back to you on this.

From what I saw on Brian's video and my initial feel of the Tx, I doubt if a beginner will get a better radio than this. It is a fully digital programmable radio and is sold for 70 Euro in Europe. However, unless I use it to fly (or get a more experienced flyer to test it) a model, the review will remain incomplete and it wouldn't be correct on my part to guarantee anything.

@nitesh - Thanks buddy.

@rc novice you can use with any simulator dongle with available simulator software like 9 in 1 simulator available with RC Bazaar or RCD. You have to connect the dongle with radio using a 3.5 headphone jack interconnecting cable. The pins in DSC ports are ground, PPM En & PPM out.

@SaurIMX So you are very happy buying it online with shipping and take the risk of loss enroute further wait endlessly for the Customs to clear it ( I hope you know the customs have an embargo on import of radios) get yourself a WPC clearance. Even if you are able to clear customs by paying a hefty customs duty at the whims and fancy of customs. At the end of it all even if you are lucky to get the radio past all the hurdles you are with zero back up support of a local agencies and when something goes wrong then blame it on cheap chinese product.  :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: ;D ;D ;D

Why can't you be just be happy that one of our Local Hobby Shop has taken all the trouble to get it to your doorstep with all the backup support and with WPC clearance at such a competitive pricing with such cool features within the reach of every aspiring/ budding aeromodeller.

Thanks Guys and VC for this review.... i had to intervene here due to comments from people saurIMX as sometimes people like these are usually best at one thing "Cynicism"... People like these need to be stated that it took us more 7 months with the French and the manufacturers to develop and design this product... we have had these radios in our store undergoing tests for more than 6 months (I am sure some of our customers in Bangalore had seen this radio months earlier)...
also i fail to understand on people being negate on we trying to build a Indian brand (where as applause is given by the same group when done abroad... classic example flysky radio branded as turnigy).... so what do you expect us to do?... open a factory for producing radios ????????
we run through the pain of getting the wpc approvals (which is another nightmare) and bearing the dollar brunt, shipping cost and VAT and income tax at the end of year and operational costs of high rents plus we have a dedicated team of 9 people at RcBazaar and still we decide to price this at rs 2650 so that only our Indian RC beginner's benefit from this.... and we benefit in monetary terms "baba ji ka *&^%)  :) on this radio..
We are quite happy with what we are doing as we see international customers and other international firms asking us about our avionic or hiller or wolfpack products and for the first time we feel that there is "some" identity of rc products from our country...
if i decide to close rcbazaar I will surely loose money but people like you need to take a step back and think "where will I get products at such ease, support and prices??"

enough said from myside...

Don't pay heed, you are and should be way above these jibes and 'unglis' people keep doing. flying giants, rcg all over people critisize even brands like JR XG14 (futaba fan boys) and vice versa. My piece should be on the way i guess, i intend giving it to Vineet along with Ryan, let us see how does this radio fair with a child.

Very good initiative sujju sir. I saw the menu functions on brians review, i am no pro. But because it is designed for the newcomers i think it should be more intuitive.  :)
And functions like model name should have full alphabetical flexibility. As a beginner wants to remember the model name with ease and give it a personal name which might suggest which model it is. No offence meant here sujju sir.

But still awesome work sir thanks for contributing so much to the hobby.

This Transmitter can be used for flying all basic aeroplane, gliders and Multirotors (Since Flight controller does all the Mixing in Multirotors two aux channel available for all aux input to FC). No swash plate settings throttle and pitch curve settings for heli so can be used for only for a very basic Heli with a two servo 120 Degrees swash plate with fly bar and not for any other heli.

Some of the very cool features which this radio has which are very well thought of which are not there even in big brands and handy for a beginner are as follows.

1.  collapsible antenna. Every radio set the most delicate part which keeps the user worried most for damage is the antenna. when available collapsible just push it in after use.

2.   Collapsible carrying Handle. very small form factor because of this can be easily packed inside a smallest of the boxes. occupies least space.

3.   Easy Mode Change.  Can be change to any mode From Mode 1 to 4 with ease both mechanically and in the menu at ease in field without any hassles.

4.    Variable Transmission Power  very handy when flying indoors, Range Testing, (when operating simulator see point 14 below) to save battery power for longer duration of operation.

5.    Transmitter Voltage from 3.7V to 8.4V.  The radio can be powered with a 4 Cell Nimh/ 1S Lipo/ 2S Lipo. With a removable 4AA battery case it can be easily powered with NiMh or you can connect it with a 1S or 2S Lipo and after removing the 4xAA battery case there is ample space to fit a 2500mah 2S Lipo.

6.    Provision to adjust the low voltage alarm in the menu for various battery type.  I found this the coolest bigginer friendly feature available. you can adjust the low voltage alarm based on the type of battery used.

7.    Timer Function. Timer Function with a dedicated toggle for it keeping in mind the ease of programing it required for a beginner.

8.    Simple Easy Programming Menu. Simple Menu with an eight model memory apt for a beginner.

9.    Back Lit Display for ease of operation in any environment. No modification of backlight required.

10.   Digital Trim with Audible feedback of centering and adjust. Very cool essential feature for mid flight adjustment of Trim. Digital Trim very easy handling.

11.   Separate pre assigned D/R Toggle Switch with Programmable D/R Function.

12.   Receiver Voltage 4.8V to 8.4V. 6 Channel receiver very light which can be used as a micro receiver also at 6.5gms. Can be powered with a HV BEC/Life too. However care to be taken to ensure Servos too are capable of HV This point was missing in manual so thought of highlighting it.

13.   Pre Assigned Toggle Switches for Channel 5 and 6.. I would have loved an additional POT trim too though.

14.   SIMULATOR DSC Port 3.5 Audio Plug connector with PPM out. Can be used as Simulator with any dongle available by connecting it with 3.5 Audio interconnecting cable. The Radio can be used as the Students Transmitter with any brand master Radio by interconnecting with a Trainer cable made with 3.5mm Audio Cable. Coolest feature of the port is it has a PPM enable function where in only when you plug a 3.5 Audio pin in the DSC port the PPM is enabled and automatically the Radio internal Transmitter module is switched off. Anyone interested in Hack for the interconnecting cable please ask can post details.

15.   Program Mixes.  It has all the basic program mixes like Elevon, V Tail, flaperon.

16.   Throttle not zero Alarm. Alarm indicator when the Throttle not zero when switched on.

17.   Internal battery Voltage indicator on display.

All the above features are very well thought of feature especially for the beginners available at such affordable price within easy reach of every students.

I am mode 2 and everyone else here is mode 1.
And they all try to fly my models.
Sooner or later they lose it, except Harveer (the top gun).
All i need is a mode 2 mode 1 slider.
Well done RCB!

Reply#100 Lipo capacity for convertion corrected to 1800mah - 2200mah

Lipo conversion is as easy as that. Remove existing 4AA cell battery case. Get a 2S lipo 1800mah-2200 mah with micro jst power plug with shortest lead for more space in case of 2200. Fit the lipo close battery cover. Change low voltage alarm in menu to 2S Lipo.

There is still some space in thickness but length is very marginal for 2200mah.

I have deliberately left some tolerance on the dimensions.

@Sarfraz  Flysky FS-T6 which is approx Rs 4000/- definitely has more all round features in terms of the Programing menu and is designed for use with Helicopters also in addition to planes and gliders with more setting features pertaining to heli incorporating various Swash plate settings, throttle and pitch curves, end Point adjustments. Has Exponential setting in addition to D/R. More flexibility in switch/ POT VR assignment.

RCB6i is FHSS ( Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) system and FlySky FS - T6 is a AFHDS ( Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System) To a common man I believe both have same features but different names given by individual developers.

But FS-T6 has none of the beginner friendly Niceties and simple menu features, preassigned simplicity of RCB6i. If you are an advance pilot who can afford more or if you are purely a Heli Pilot you should Consider FlySky FS-T6. If you are Beginner in plane/multirotors then RCB6i is a fantastic affordable radio set for you. Its your choice to make.

PS : Gusty thanks for the Hitech Stap on flysky which you forgot here. I wish if only it had been something bigger.  :giggle:

@Darmik Why do you ask?  At 1C rating a 2200mah Lipo has the capacity to give 2200ma continuous. Whereas the tx draw is just <100ma. So Lipo has lot of margin. Anyhow at 2200mah capacity any thing above 0.05C rating is sufficient at 1000mah any thing above 0.1C is sufficient. Lipos are at the least 5C and above so no worries.

To use this radio as simulator any commonly available simulator dongle like 9 in 1 or 6 in 1 and a 3.5 Audio interconnecting cable photos posted should do. Please disregard the servo connector for wireless sim modification attached to my dongle in this context.

Moment you connect the 3.5 pin in DSC jack and switch on the PPM mode is enabled and internal TX module is switched off automatically. Plug the USB dongle in PC use any SIM sofware which came with dongle after calibration.  All six channels work in simulator.

@VC my cable came with my simulator. Most the simulator dongles comes with this cable. One can also buy this in Audio eqpt store or musical instrument store. Only FMS simulator software  is available free to download online. Rest are licenced versions available as cracked in torrents form. To download Aerofly or realflight google is great help.

@Sarfraz as per my understanding both are max 20db.

RCB is providing warranty that is itself very nice. As other than established brands/stores no one gives you warranty on budget radios.

Just imagine you get the radio from HK and it gets faulty, what you will do?

In my view its a good buy for the customers, as they can get the warranty on the purchase.

I don't doubt the reliability and many senior members have suggested me the same.
RCB and Avionics are also well established brands and so I wish that RCB can provide
1yr warranty like any other established brands too. It will make RCB more competetive
and at par with suppliers like HK. I don't think RCB guys are not capable of doing this especially now,
when they are going to open up a big store in Pune and maybe become India's leading supplier of hobby parts.

I hope RCB guys are reading this. Wishing RCB a great success for the upcoming store! :)

However I have a problem in calibrating the sticks. It does not matter whether
I am using it in Mode 1 or Mode 2, I don't get a throttle response until I move the stick to around 20%.
The Tx has a timer which starts ticking only when throttle is given but that timer also does not increase
till the throttle stick is at 20%. Any suggestions?  :help:

i have the same tx.
This tx is excellent and people say that there are range issues. There are no such range issues.
I tested once. it gives 1.1 km in the city.
The functions are good and pretty well designed.
you would want some other features like slave and mix but its okay without them.
Be careful of the antenna when extended.
Use rechargeable camera "AA" batteries. I have been using it continuously for the last 2 months without recharging the batteries.it shows the battery level to be 3/4
Hope you have a good time with this Tx.
Regards

Prabal.. today is the 10th may and your post here is almost a month old now.
1. We have been following up with you to send the TX back for close to a month now and you have been avoiding us to send the tx back... now question is.. Have you posted this issue after hearing or being pushed by someone??...

2. In your earlier deleted post you had mentioned (tanmay and suyash)... FYI, both are in touch with me... Tanmay’s issue was never range… he has opened and modified the radio to large extent for his project. And Suyash stated issues for which he sent is back to us promptly for tests. We had to only rest and calibrate the radio on the menu, we have the checked the range which is fantastic as usual and I believe he has been informed of this but the pune team...
Coming back to the question… why did you state this range issue if there was non? if you still feel there was a problem why are you not sending this to for us to test it?... your guarantee of sending it back to us (after messages here plus repeated emails from the team) you have still failed to adhere to you words?... so what is going on... need an answer from you here...

Dear Sujju Sir any plans of bringing back 7X?

Hello miginstruments..
apologies for the delay.. just happen to see you post now ... regarding the 7x... the factory that used to make this for us shut down operations around 2 years back due to internal family problems.. we are been trying to get the moulds, the hardware and software from them but with internal legal issues the are not in any position to do so.. hence for the time being this project is on hold and hope to revive this soon as this radio had some very good unique features..

Dear Sujju Sir, thanks for the reply.  as you said some features are really good in 7x, and also the look and feel of the radio is awesome,  particularly at this price point. ll be really happy to see the reintroduction of this radio. Hope you ll get through the hurdles and get back it soon.

Dear sujju sir as i already said in pm's the mods were very light and the main board was not even touched in the process. And the range issue is a chain reaction event.
In the beginning the tx was fantastic.
Later i needed variables on ch5 and ch6. I just replaced the switches with variables. Happy.
Some more later i was bench testing my new motor and by mistake the timer switch touched the metal (static electricity) door of my room and at that moment the lcd went crazy and lit up like tube light.  and i disconnected my tx lipo 2s. And opened to see that everthing looking fine just the mcu and rf ic were slightly warm and the voltage regulator were hot and i observed that 3.3v regulator were gone.
At that time i didnt checked range of tx which was 30 metres max as the rf amplifier was also gone.
As i didnt have those smd regulators in my city , i asked rcb to help .
They responded .
To save myself from the cost of shipping the tx back to rcb , i decided to wait and repair it myself.
But couldnt. As you think i have opened it and modified it heavily , NO what i have done is a general move .
Regards

tanmay... you are not supposed to even open a screw of the tx and if done then its at your own risk...the question here is not about your modification but of Prabal shooting off your name stating you have range issue (which he conveniently forgets to mention all the above what you stated).. making it look like there is some issues with the tx...  i saw another post where you wanted a rcb6i.. we do have them and will give it to you at no cost.. but shipping cost to be borne by you (send an email to helpdesk@rcbazaar.com and the team will do the needful)

prabal... funny you now have problems of cost and time to send the tx back (note: its more than one month now on this issue) and it took a few seconds or minutes to shout out in public here...  before even talking to us to find what might have caused the problem.. as i have said earlier here.. think before you ink

Sir; not meaning to be rough but there are some limitations here. I have to ground test my radioless friends plane in a few  days. Even i have recommended the rcb 6i to many of my friends.
What have i done now??? Think before you ink? I have my summer vacations coming up; why wouldnt i like to get me radio repaired? Sir; there are limitations. I have just finished my u.t cycle and have coaching every free day. When do i even get time. Will ship out the radio asap to you.
