Sorry for bumping the thread but i have another newbe doubt:
The kds radio is for 5k odd and is 7ch , while a futaba etc costs a lot lot more. Whats The difference? Is this radio strictly for beginners?

A maruthi car(800) as well as a  i20, both has four wheels. But consider airbags, disc brakes, nice music system, climate control, QUALITY, ABS etc etc.

Similarly In radios, Quality, reliability, Features(more number of mixing), feature, LCD good enough for complex mixing/programming, Range Durability, (Last time I saw ujjwal drop his 7c from 4 feet  :giggle: whle he was walking) and not even a scratch.

I have an RDS8000. when I go into the sun, its LCD becomes so dark that I cant read, But when Ujjwal takes his futaba 7c out in the sun, it does not happen.

Hope it answers?

A KDS is good enough for a beginner for a year or 2 who are in strict budget. But if one decides to stay for even 2 to 3 years with moderate flying, then I would suggest a better brand like spektrum, jr, futaba. I would have recommended the RDS8000 first, but due to the lack of cheap Chinese receivers, I would not recommend it anymore.  :'(

Sai, Does the KDS 7 need laptop for programming? Coz on the site you say the lcd displays only :

LED display, Show model type and battery voltage on normal status.

To avoid any confusion, is it completely field programmable (WITHOUT the use of any laptops) ?

Thanks vinay, that does answer my question. :) It is a good radio for a budget indeed.
Is it compatable with other recievers? I read online that people had problems getting recievers for this radio, is this true?
Would be nice if someone who uses this radio can share their thoughts about their experience with it.

Yes  you don't need a laptop for it it is very similar in operation to the 6Ex.

We have spare receivers  available

Only word of precaustion that I have for users of it is to be doubly sure of the polarity prior to connecting the receiver .

Wrong Polarity  connection is the only problem we have had with it from the users point of view.
