Hi all,

can anyone help me in selection of receiver (micro) compatible with Futaba 4EXA, my crystal frequency is 72.07mhz its a ppm transmitter.
i am beginner flying glow powered trainer , planning to make STC.

i am planning "GWS R4 PII F 4Ch FM Pico Receiver 72mhz" weight is less than 10 gms. is there any other better alternative.

hope i am not duplicating same topic, your suggestions is highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards.

I'm either slightly confused or I'm mistaken. Pls correct one and all. If you are flying a glow trainer then why do you want a micro Rx? Should you not be looking for a full range Rx? Micro Rx's are generally used with electric park flyers.  I'm not sure about GWS but corona Rx's work with Futaba Tx's.
Hope my funda's are right.

Please do not use "micro" receivers on glow planes, use a full range receiver.  The GWS pico series are meant for park flyers.

Best option is to get a proper Futaba receiver with the right crystal.

I have seen reports of Corona synthesized receivers being used on glow planes, but then there were some concerns about their flimsy antennas too.  If someone can confirm locally, this would be a low cost and easily available option.

Is there any problem about using synthesized rx in glow plane...?
What are the concerns about antennas...?
I have bought one and planning to use it on electrics as well as glow.

I remember something about antennas being too flimsy etc on larger planes, when I researched this topic earlier.  Did a quick search now, and got this :

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6974219/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

This thread has both good and bad things listed.  The bad things may be about specific batches.  This is why I was asking if anyone was using these on glow engines locally.

There is also a documented issue about CDI in gas engines causing glitches on these.

A similar query.

I use Futaba SkySport 4 T4VF 40 Mhz for electrics and need a couple of spare rx. I have the following queries:

1. Is the 40/41 Mhz Corona compatible with Futaba T4VF?

2. What's the difference between V1 and V2 - which one would be suitable for the T4VF?

3. Crystals - I have read that these Rx are shipped with about 10 crystals and only a few 'match' - what does this mean ? How do I know which ones match my setup ? Do I have a choice to request the ones that match from HK when I placec the order ?

Thank you !

Glad to be of help.
Corona is great both in terms of price and Range. The Dual synth Rx's are realy good and have worked well for me. I've also tried the dual conversion crystal based Rx's and they are equally good if not better. Range test is also equal to Futaba. I'm very confidently flying my glow planes also on both the synth and crystal based Rx's.
Corona also has a very good after sales support and do solve a lot of problems online.
People flying on Mhz frequencies, I feel, can confidently add corona Rx's to their Rx list.
