With my B6 balanced charger on the way from Delhi, I was thingking to do away with with the hassle of my 110v I/P Futaba Wall charger for my T7C Futaba Tx.

I was looking for the charging cord at RcDhamaka, but sadly, its out of stock.

Has anay one made the chord at home ? The Pin which goes into the charger almost looks like the standard DC Jack pin which comes with most of the 9v/12v Batter adapters. But then, most of such pins for Laptops are actually incopatible, though look almost the same.

Is it safe to make the chargin lead myself or wait for RcDhamaka to stock up ? Rs 135 is not much to risk my TX - I am just impatient.

You already have a 110v solution, and a better one is on the way.  You are seriously impatient 

Not sure if the B6 comes with such a cable, otherwise you can always cut the connector out of the 110v charger, and use it with the B6 (after soldering in a deans female on the other end).  These type of chargers usually come with a cable with banana plugs on one end and deans male on the other end, so you just need to tack on to the deans side with your Futaba connector.

My B6 - bought from Sai - came with a complete set of cables , including one that can be used for the Tx. Unfortunately for me, my 9Z WC2 has an internal diode that prevents me from using this on a regular basis.

In any case, banana plugs AND a suitable DC socket are available very easily. Futaba has a +ve center polarity.

Thanks Sushil I guess my SlyCharger B6AC does come with a DC jack which may go into the Futaba Tx.

You may be right, I guess even in my Futaba T7C, there is a diode between the battery and the jack, may be to prevent  short circuit / wrong polarity. When I put the DC jack and connected the Multimeter, there was no reading which lead me think that i have the wrong jack.
This issue would make advanced chargers useless as diode would  hinder in Delta-Peak sensitivity while charging.. I guess I have to celeberate the 'Birthday' of the Tx sooner and open it to see if I can put another charging point.

On a side note, has anybody found a 2000mAh NiMh battery pack (8-cell) for Futaba Tx ? I am not exiting about putting a LiPo due to large self discharge current and higher risk of fire.

Discharge current is not an issue on purpose built lipos for TX use (they are like 3C discharge).  Fire... may be (nothing beyond the normal care and concern in using lipos). 

It sure is convenient that you can fly for a whole month or more with one charge.  It is better to take the lipo out and charge it outside the TX.

A more common issue is over discharge, as the warning bells on most TXs are set to go off somewhere in the 8.x volt range, which is borderline (or damaging) for lowest lipo discharge points.  You have to make sure you stop somewhere close to 10v and recharge, in the interest of lipo life.

You can always charge the batt directly, by disconnecting it from the TX and plugging it directly to the charger (bypassing the diode)  Not a best practice though.

Finally you can try the new A123 TX packs !  TX friendly voltages (lower than lipo) and no fire risk !

The transmitter current draw is typically around 400-500 mA. Low enough not to cause problems with almost any LiPo battery.



Don't know about the 7C but my TX has an enclosed pack with the diode INSIDE it. Connects to the circuit via a 4 pin female connector (integral to the pack). Have to short it via this connector. Bypassing the diode makes the transmitter inoperative!

Your transmitter is one of a kind      It is on the high end, and things get complicated on the high end (like my 12FG has a charging connector that is smaller than the standard Futaba charging connector, I guess they did that because it works around the 8v range, unlike the 11v range on the other widely used ones, to prevent accidents).

On the 7C (and 9C), the battery is typically just a servo type connector, which can be pulled out and charged outside the TX.
