I could not get simulator working. Here is what I did:

I placed the batteries in Tx, turned it on and the Tx comes up nicely.
I installed RealFlight G6.5 that came with the simulator.
I plugged in the simulator dongle. I changed the mode on simulator to #2 G3,G4,G5,G6
It started to blink blue.
I connected it to the back of Tx, and the blue light became steady.
Launched RealFlight application and went to "calibration" option.
It says to move sticks, I move the stick but the values did not change.

I rebooted the system and retried it did not work.

Specs:
1. OS: Windows 7
2. Tx: FlySky 9x
3. SuperSimX All-in-one R/C simulator for RCB
4. RealFlight 6.5

The video on RCB is bit old and no more relevant. Can someone help me with this?

try to remove the module from behind the TX... it should work

I am sorry, I did not get it. It is not clear to me what module you are talking about?

1. Did you mean remove the simulator jack from the back of the Tx and insert it again?
2. Did you mean to open up the Tx and do something in there? If this is true, can you tell me exactly what?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have specific experience with this TX, but in many cases what needs to happen is that the TX should be in a buddy cable (student mode) to send the signals via the trainer jack.

In some transmitters, this happens if you connect the sim connector to the TX jack WITH THE TX TURNED OFF.  If this is how this TX works, then it should power up automatically in the student mode, and your sim will see the TX signals.

Just guessing.

I guess what Madaquif said is correct, either you need to remove the module,(on the back of the tx, no need to open up the tx) or perform a mod wherein you have to add a resistor(this eliminates removal of module).

A word of caution, do not power on the tx without module if you have not connected the simulator cable.

A quick search showed this, which allows for sim/trainer use without removing the module. This seems to imply that removing the module is a must in the normal case ?

https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1428

This seems to say something different :

Quote
Turn your transmitter off and connect a minijack cable from its trainerport at the back to either the line-in or microphone inputs of your computer's soundcard. Once the cable is plugged into your Turnigy 9X it should turn itself on, this is normal.

But if you were quoting from personal experience, then I will take your word for it.

Went through the whole thread. @chindichor kindly try doing following things. I also use the same transmitter as yours FS TH9X. I'd also got a FS T6. Only the difference is my simulator is from quadkopters.com. But there is no such difference in both the sims. Alright now do the following and tell me whether it works or not. Try following same procedure as mentioned.
1. Remove the module from Tx. The module is present on back side of Tx.(Pic attached) this could be done by pressing the two side clips on the module Be careful. Do not pull it out. When you'll press the clips it would come out very easily.
2. Now switch on the USB connector of the simulator on the software you want to go for. Like for eg: lets suppose phoenix RC.
3. Connect the USB to the PC/laptop. Blue light would confirm it is working.
4. Now connect the USB's other end to the Tx.(I hope the pic attached is the lead that you got on the other end.)
5. Now open the software phoenix RC. When you'll open it, hopefully you'll find what you want. Now calibrate your transmitter properly following every recommended step. Hope it works.
@shobhit sir, I got the Tx with you as well. Kindly try the above steps once. I hope it would work. Also, you need not remove the module as it is not possible in your radio. Giggle Giggle
Also, both of you if using real flight kindly make following changes.
Do everything as above and then open realflight. Finish up all calibration first.
Go to controller menu on top and select Interlink elite controller(2nd option)
 Hats Off

Few more pics. This is where you need to connect the USB's other end on Tx(FS TH9X)

One more thing, you need not switch on your transmitter. As soon as you'll connect the simulator cable it would switch on itself.  Also, do not(mistakenly) switch your radio on without module.
 Hats Off

Very helpful replies. Thanks guys, you are awesome.

Taking clues from this thread, I finally could resolve the issue. Sorry for the delay, I work primarily in Ubuntu so had to switch to Windows 7 for the experimentation, but yes:

1. I set the trainer mode on in the Tx.
2. Removed the module in the back.
3. Switched the Tx off.
4. Plugged the Sim in the Tx and then, to the USB port. It started blinking.
5. Started RealFlight6.5, it took about 2 minutes (yeah, that long) to the software to detected radio.

I could calibrate and control works in the application. I want to thank @utkarshg13, @anwar sir, and everyone else for quick reply.

----

One weird thing though. The throttle does not kick in until it reaches to the halfway of its swing. Is this normal? Shouldn't the throttle start revving up as soon as I start to move it up from the lowest position?

Thanks

Thank God it started working. Ok. Yes, it works right from the 10% of the throttle from you Tx. You just need to calibrate it again. while calibrating you'll get an option to check the extent of the switches. Ensure to extent both the switches 360 degree full extension. your throttle problem would resolve.

I did not see any option to check the extent of the knobs, but I might have missed that. I tried calibrating it more than thrice. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the simulator and Tx and rebooting RealFlight... it did not seem to ever pick at 10%. It always start from 50% and reaches to 100% at 100% (2x scaled).

But anyway, I will try that in the morning. Thanks for the response.
