Hello there,
Am a newbie in case of transmitters. First and only transmitter bought till date is the RCB6i. Later also bought Rz6 and Rz4 receivers as addon to the Tx. I am not a very frequent flyer, but recently I am watching that the sticks of the transmitters don't properly center. I view the values via the Cleanflight receiver window, and the sticks seem to have a dead band about 10 to 40 microseconds.
So I want to buy a new receiver. I don't want to spend 20K after a Taranis. For a few days I have been watching the Flysky 9X, which seems to be a popular choice and is also compatible with Modules. Now I am in a dilemna, what to do? Shall I discard the RCB6i along with the receivers (as they wont bind with FlySky or Frsky modules) and buy a new Flysky 9x? Or shall I again buy another RCB6i or preferably Rcb OS10? Please, feel free to leave your inputs here. Need to make a one time investment.

I recommend 9x because you have very big support for it. Many people have used it and to be specific everyone who were in hobby from 2005 might have used it.
However avionic rcb os10 is not bad actually. Heard very good reviews on it however if you want to use it with frsky then it is not of your choice.
However 9x is cheap compared to os10 as of now.

If you are not happy with the gimbals on the 6i there is no point getting the OS-10 as it uses the same poor gimbals. The 9x definitely has better gimbals, but the stock module is pretty bad so it would be better to get a FrSky DJT or preferably the XJT. It is also a good idea to flash better firmware to it like er9x or OpenTx (if it is still supported). The 9XR is similar in terms of features, but comes with a programming port for firmware updates (on the 9x you have to solder to the main board unless you get a board like the SmartiePants). 9XR does not come with a module. It is in some sense a 9x with a couple of upgrades and a different form factor (If you're interested I am selling one BTW). However, you still don't get telemetry without modifications.

The Taranis is worth it for the price, as by the time you start adding upgrades like the Smartiepants or Taranis gimbals, you approach the cost of a Taranis. It is even better if you can find someone to carry the Taranis for you from abroad or find one used (though nogt many pilots would want to part from their Taranis  ;)). I started with an RCB6i, then I got a 9XR and now I use a Taranis. As you said, it is a one-time investment. However, if you are not willing to spend that much, a 9x/9XR/9XR Pro with FrSky module will do the job and will be far better than the RCB6i.

Note that the issue with sticks not centering occurs with a lot of transmitters, even the Taranis, after some use.

I've used the RCB 6i too. The OS-10 sticks feel much better somehow. Maybe it's because of the new processor and firmware.

I've inspected the stick gimbals of all the radios I own (Futaba, Sanwa, JR, Frsky Taranis, Flysky, E-sky and RCB). The RCB gimbals certainly aren't as good mechanically as those of the Taranis, but I've never felt like they weren't good enough.
I've had centering problems with my Futaba and Sanwa radios. All you need to do is use needle nose pliers to tighten the gimbal springs.

Anyways, here's how you can get best of both worlds. Get an OS-10 and a Taranis Gimbal from banggood and replace the roll/ pitch gimbal from your OS-10. In terms of firmware features, range and other special options (mode-switch, retractable antenna, foldable handle) no other radio is as good as the OS-10 in that price range. With Taranis gimbals it would be unbeatable. 

Kumaran sir (from vibranthobbies) has kindly arranged to get the Taranis gimbals from banggood for me. Maybe you can ask him to get you some as well.

@Swapnil, unfortunately the changeable mode design of the RCB6i restricts using some other gimbal in it. I was trying to fit the Flysky Gimbal I got off a broken Fs T6 Tx, but couldn't do that. The screw holes do not align properly. however cant say the same about the Taranis Gimbals.

@SK1701, well that's scary. So you are saying whatever I get, they will show this dead-band effect after sometime? :(

I told RCBazaar about the problem and they said that it was due to the potentiometers. I asked RCbazaar to ship me some potentiometers as shipping the Tx would cost me more money, they said they will look into the matter, but since then, no news from them :( . I wonder if these potentiometers are available online.

I searched a lot of local websites but didn't find any pots that could be used in Tx gimbals. People have successfully used Taranis gimbals on their 9x and 9xr radios with little or no modification.

If the only problem in the 6i is the gimbal pots, then it would be a lot more economical for you to just change the gimbals. You can mechanically change the mode in Taranis gimbals just like the RCB gimbals.

If you can wait a bit, my team has been working on contact-less hall-effect based sensors that can directly replace the gimbal pots on any Tx. They work much better than pots and will never degrade as there is no friction. We are fine tuning the final design and they should be available soon.

Wow, that is interesting. So you are using an Analog Hall Effect sensor with a neodymium magnet? But what if some other magnet comes close to the gimbal?
Anyways, good idea. Hope to see it in work soon

The Nd magnets we are using are so strong and placed so close to the sensor that any other day-to-day magnetic object wouldn't affect the sensor readings.

Need some more help. SO I finally decided to buy a Fs 9x Tx with stock module, but along with that I want to buy a 2.4Ghz Avionic Supported Module, so that I can put the receivers I already have to good use. But unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere for sale. In RcBazaar it is out of stock. Can anywhere help me in this regard? I don't know where to find one. Please help.

Today tried to fix the Taranis Gimbals on the RCB 6i. The screw holes align perfectly. Now I have a RCB 6i with perfect accuracy. Again checked via the PC monitor, it is perfectly accurate now.
