HI  guys,
I am going to use a 4ch stick tx on 2.4gig for my boats..............
the question is if I have esc with a reverse option how will I use the revers option as  the low throttle position is off for the esc to calculate the throttle settings.
is there a way to be able to have use of the reverse function on esc??    or do I have to get a trigger type tx with a pull push throttle ?

hi guys.
well ......... after a look around on the net................
I 'may ' have found the answer................

it depends on the esc NOT the tx...right?...

so if I put a spring on the throttle to hold it as neutral at 1/2 throttle  [ like the right stick is] [mode2]
then the esc will see this as neutral and up for forward and down for brake/reverse ??

have I read the reading correctly?

Pl post a link of the ESC that you are using. We used this for our Hovercraft models and they worked rather well on reverse.

We were using Mode 2 sets (Throttle on the left). In order to reverse, we would bring the throttle all the way down to zero and hold it there for a while, back up a bit and quickly back to zero again. The esc would go into reverse mode. In order to go back to normal, the same procedure was repeated.

From my experience, yes you will be able to control reverse with a 2.4G Tx.

hi mate.
that's great I have put the spring gizmo on the throttle of the dedicated boat tx now,
so 1/2 throttle is neutral and auto the same place on release...hope this works Smiley

does the throttle 'trim slider' cause any probs? does it want to be at 1/2 setting as well?

I've always kept the trim at the lowest position and faced no problems.

The throttle trim (slider or digital) is designed to be active ONLY on the lower end of stick travel. So, In this case it would affect the "full reverse" setting to a small extent.

Hi Sunk
You are right. The reverse function depends on the ESC not the TX and RX. Boats probably use the same kind of ESC that we use in cars. What I do with my cars is that I change the stick control configs and make the elevator control (Right stick - spring loaded) as my throttle and the rudder control (left stick - spring loaded) as my steering. So both controls return to neutral as soon as you leave them. That way I can keep using my TX for both flying and cars without changing any mechanics. However since I am using the actual elevator stick for throttle the trim tad has an effect both up and down. But thats no big deal.

Hi Don,
check on the locking of the propeller. You will need to put an additional lock to avoid the prop getting unscrewed during the reverese operation.

hi mate.
good thinking ........
once I have sorted the right prop [I have a 40mm and a 35 mm] and if I need to use the reduction box I will be lock tighting the prop.
[the motor end is already lock tighted.] Smiley
