Title: Tx batteries and charging
Post by: arun.sreelakam on October 16, 2012, 05:32:09 PM
Friends :) planning to buy rechargable batteries( (:|~) for flysky 6ch transmitter.. please suggest me which one to go for ??? ??? ???
normal nimh 1.2v cells
life 9.9v battery
or 3s lipo 11.1v
and also can i charge the nimh cells using the transmitter itself through the adapter port..?
which adapter to use then..? :headscratch:
thanks in advance..  :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

arun, here is an earlier post hinting a similar situation.

http://www.rcindia.org/batteries-and-chargers/battery-for-flysky-th9x-(suggestions)/msg106925/#msg106925

I believe the FlySky 6 also runs the same voltage configuration so this should apply equally well.

Yes you can charge it via the adapter port, but if you plan to use a LiPo or a LiFe, you should be getting a much more dynamic charger which is capable of charging and balancing these special batteries as the stock adapter port will not allow you to balance charge. I use an accucell 6 to charge the battery. And i am running on the LiFe from HK - 1500mAh

12v 2A sounds okay, but care should be taken not to overcharge and the charger needs to cut off, typically time would be about 10-12 hours but depends on the current flowing in the circuit, which is dependent on the state of the cells. Additionally, NiMH is good to charge at c/10. Charging in the transmitter would mean charging all 8 in series, due to slight differences in the capacity of cells, the best case is to charge each cell independently or in smaller batches so an inexpensive charge that charges 2 or 4 at a time might increase the overall battery life.

I'd still recommend going in for a LiFe, for two primary reasons:

1. LiFe is 9.9v and NiMH (8 * 1.2v = 9.6 v), your transmitter will have atleast 0.3 v before it starts beeping about low battery
2. LiFe hold charge better and will provide longer runtimes.

as a test run, when you connect the charging circuit and leave it for about 5 mins, if the NiMH heats up, the current running is high enough and will reduce battery life/ damage. keep a watch while charging

how many NiMH cells do you typically put into this radio, 4 or 8?

nothing, dont worry, i was just browsing the tx section on HK and wanted to confirm that yours is running on 12 v, there are some on HK which seem to look similar but run on 6 v

girish i agreed that life will suit my transmitter but the dimensions are my problem... when i remove the batteries from the transmitter and measured.. the thickness of battery should be 18mm or low.. >:( >:( but hobbysea life lipo shous 23mm :(
is there any life battery suitable for me available..? :banghead: or do i want to make any modifications in transmitter? :banghead: :banghead:

I use LiFe 1500mAh from hobbyking for my turnigy 9x.
This LiFe suits only those which have a 4cell+4cell arrangement, not an 8-cell flat.

Oh yes, I remember seeing that Tx LiPo being used.
But measure your compartment and see if it's considerably bigger than the LiPo itself.

880 + 80 (their shipping price AFAIK) is not a very decent price, but it's okay, you can go for it. :)

dude what about this?  eBay.com link (http://www.ebay.com/itm/11-1V-2200MAH-3PK-RC-Transmitter-TX-Lipo-Lithium-Battery-AKKU-Futaba-KO-/150894543947?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D2819845030662152323%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D150894543947%26)

or go for hobbyking?

The ebay item you gave is located in China. If you want it, it's as good (or as bad) as buying from hobbyking.

But I think you can go for thehobbyshop.in item.

guys goin to get the turnigy 1450mah tx lipo in 2~3 days.. now how do i modify my flysky ct6b tranmitter for installing lipo.. please help.. should i wanna open the transmitter and solder or simply do it from outside? :help: :help: :help: :help:

Your radio doesn't have a female connector, so you need to solder. I had soldered my Tx LiPo when I was using the same Tx.
You can solder from outside and the LiPo fits in the compartment.

Hey, As this is relevent thread, I will request all to purchase LiFE battery insted of LiPO for lower voltage.

This is because, I have seen to malfunction some cheap Tx (6 ch, 9 ch.) while you apply voltage more than 11 volt. All 2.5GHz sets are works on 5 volt. So, No Problem.

And yes, hobbysea (http://www.hobbysea.com) is the cheapest at present. (-it's purely relative and changes always).
