Hope you are aware of the fact that the new 10CG does not support modules, while the slightly older 10C  allows you switch to 72mhz via modules.

Anwar,
Yes i am aware of the fact. I am getting out all my 72 Mhz stuff, so my hangar can be all 2.4GHz
Is the older 10C available in India anywhere ?

So this means that if I am able to find a module based 10C system with a 2.4Ghz module in Singapore, I can get it at a very good bargain since it is discontinued!!! ;D ;D

I had the same idea for Hitec 5955 servos too as they also have been discontinued and replaced by 7955!!

If I am not able to find any old stock of the module based 10C then, I would also get the dedicated 2.4 10CG!!

as per my knowledge, the module based 10C is not yet discontinued..Futaba has kept both the option open, either direct 2.4 Ghz or module based 10c

Now there is a slight problem.. I had literally decided to go in for the dedicated 2.4Ghz 10CAG without the module support.  But it is out of stock in Singa Hobby (I just spoke to them).  Could someone suggest any other alternative shop in Singapore / Thailand where I can get a good deal on Futaba?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Anwar,

Got my radio from Bangkok.  Did not have a good experience with Singapore Hobby Supplies and hence I chose to purchase it in Bangkok.  Very helpful people and after a few phone calls, took a cab for about 30 to 40 kms from the city to Bangkok Hobby Supplies L.P.!  They had the 10 CHG (Dedicated 2.4Ghz) in stock and I bought it.  It is the heli version, but I have already got the hang of programming it and I am also used to the smooth rachetless throttle in the DX6i.  So no issues and no opening the radio to change the throttle rachet.  The programming defaults to heli and takes 5 seconds to change to airplane.  Programming is a bit complex but with the manual, I learnt quickly.  The feel and the options are amazing!!! It literally gives you the PRO feeling!! The LCD is huge with a backlit display and hence can be easily used in dim lit rooms as well while setting up the aircraft!! I have already programmed the basic stuff for my Funstar and it is ready to be tested this Saturday!  Planning a Lipo upgrade too..  I would also remove the factory screen protector and put in a nice screen guard that is used in mobile phones.  That would last me for quite some time!!

They had two packaging versions from Futaba.  One was with the default 14 channel 2.4Ghz Rx and the other with the new 8 channel High Speed Rx.  I chose the 8 channel high speed Rx version since I would be using digital servos.  The Tx also has 2 modulations in 2.4Ghz itself.  One for transmitting in High Speed and one for the regular transmission.  So whenever I use regular 2.4Ghz 7 channel Rx, I would have to choose the regular modulation whereas for the 8 channel High Speed Rx, I have to choose High Speed Modulation.  This can be programmed into a model memory and is automatically changed when a model is selected.  It would require a Tx restart though when changing modes.  There would be a reminder for the restart when there is a modulation change when the model is changed!!

I have also bought a spare 7 channel 2.4 Rx.

Would post more details once I get to use the radio.

The features on the 10C are awesome, and it can surely be a life-long radio  {:)}

The 14 channel receiver is also high resolution, just like the 8 channel.  It is a bit disappointing that you have to power cycle the radio to switch between the normal and high resolution modes.  On the 12FG, it asks "Transmit Y/N" when you switch between models (regardless of the resolution), and when you say Yes, it transmits (no need to power cycle).

Congrats Chan on your new radio.. 10 channels is a lot of em!.. Wonder if you would use all for them. I haven't used more than 7 channels in my models but for your 50cc craft you may require it.

BTW, I am thinking of joining a club here. Guess what... my manager here is a die hard RC fan!!.. He has invited me to fly his aircraft. I am thinking of getting my 8UAFs transmitter here and use a 2.4Ghz Assan module. Does anyone here have experience with 2.4GHz modules?? which one is good?

I am a bit incline on Assan modules as the receivers are quite cheap. Anyway,.. suggestions please.

It is cool to have a manager who is an RC addict  ;D

"So why didn't you come to work yesterday?"
"Sorry sir, but I was working on my 50cc Katana"
"Oh I see, just don't make a habit of it!  BTW, how is the plane coming up ?!?!?!?"

Hi Anwar,

Yeah power cycling might be a headache, but anyways, it is not a major roadblock.  The 14 channel high speed Rx should be bought separately.  The one that comes with the radio is a regular 2.4 Ghz 14ch Rx and not the high speed one.  So I was to choose between a regular 14 ch Rx or a high speed 8 ch Rx.  And hell yeah!! This can definitely be a life long radio!! (This was exactly what I said when I bought my Dx6i  ;D  ;D)!!

Hi Ismail,

Thats great news!! And lucky you!!  I have seen Corona modules and have heard that they are great..Assan is equally good..
I wouldnt be using even 8 channels.. But the programming options on this radio are awesome compared to the 8 channel and the 9 channel radios.  And not to mention the huge gorgeous back lit LCD Display!! Thats the highlight! Even for the 50cc, I would be using max of 7 channels.. But one more disappointing thing in the radio is that only 8 channels are proportional and the remaining 2 are switchable!! Not all 10 channels are proportional!! I am never going to use even 8 proportional channels let alone 10!! But compared to other 10 channel brands, this was a drawback!

congratulations

Hey Subu,

Would definitely post some pics soon!!
And the 8ch Airtronics is a great radio!! But also check the 10channel one which would have been released by now!! That had the best features I have ever seen.. Contact Rcdhamaka for news on the radio!!
