Guys which is the correct mode.

From what i have heard & read Mode 2 is mostly used in U.S. The rest of the world that is europe and asia to an extent Mode 1.

Here is what i read from one radio distributor in the US


"Mode 1

This started back in the days of reed systems. Reed systems had two buttons for each servo (also known as an actuator). One button drove the servo one way and the second button drove it the opposite direction. It was almost impossible to operate two servos (4 buttons) with one hand, so the two main control functions, Elevator and Aileron, were placed on opposite sides of the transmitter. Many flyers still prefer this configuration even with today's radios. Many contest flyers insist that this gives better control of the aircraft. Mode 1 is not very popular among sport flyers in the U.S.A.. but it is dominant almost everywhere else.

Mode 1 has the Throttle and Aileron on the right stick. The Elevator and Rudder are on the left stick. The location of other controls vary with each manufacturer.

Mode 2

This mode has the Aileron and Elevator, the two main controls, on the right stick. The Throttle and Rudder are on the left stick. This mode has the advantage of making it easier to learn to fly. Most trainer aircraft can be flown with only the right stick except for takeoffs and landings. Mode 2 has become the default mode in the U.S.A. If you order a Radio Control unit from an American company, you will receive a mode 2 system unless you specify otherwise.

Sailplanes and three channel trainer aircraft usually do not have ailerons. The Elevator and Rudder servos are then connected to the right stick of a mode 2 system. This makes learning to fly much easier."

I think mode 2 is becoming the de-facto standard.  It has great advantages when it comes to heli flying (which I have described in the above thread).

I think i can see why its because the first radio that the people buy new(or used) is usually from hobby shops in the US. And if you don't mention your mode choice then de-facto mode 2.

I fly mode 3 . I got my first 4 channel radio, in 1995 from Singapore, and that was Mode 1. now it seemed to be difficult to fly with elevator and aileron on seperate sticks, so i started flying with elevator/aileron on the left stick and the throttle/rudder on the right. Opposite to the Mode 2 , but thats how i got into flying, and ever since been flying that. Several times i wanted to go to mode 2 but it seemed to be quite difficult to change now .

The trick to changing flying modes is the simulator.  It will take a few hours on the sim, to make you feel at home on a different mode. 

I haven't tried changing modes, but have changed going from thumbs to pinch, and the sim helped greatly.

Me too-mod 3.when i bought my tx,it was in mod 4 by default.had to have aileron+elevator on one stick and changing the throttle stick involved opening up the tx,so jurt swapped the rudder and aileron with throttle in default(right) and hence mod 3.

You are the first person i met , who also flies mode 3 . Personally i do not find it any difficult or different from Mode 2 .

The difficulty may come when you try to help someone test their radio, do a quick test flight for someone and so on. 

There are lot of times when one feels if there was only one standard ! I face this all the time when Mode 1 folks ask me to fix their helis or test fly them.  The Futaba 9C model copying function (using Campac module) was usually the quick way out; which allowed model settings to be copied from their 9C to mine. It also helped that pretty much all the mode 1 folks (only a handful), had 9Cs.

I fly mode 3 too. Learnt to fly the mode3 way by myself with a mode1 handed down tx............. and ended up stuck with mode3 ever since

its a personal choice.. some times decided by your first radio mode, or how your instructor teaches you. lot of international pilots combine various modes to suit their flying like elevator / rudder on one stick and ail /throttle on the other etc etc.

i fly in mode 2, even though while doing  flying training at the kerala aviation training centre i have always occupied the left seat and used to operate the throttle with the right hand , i felt many time's  i should have gone with mode 1. once u stick to a mode u stay with it. so its mode 2 for me.

I will say this again for the benefit of newcomers.  There are real advantages to having elevator and aileron on the same stick (like in Mode 2) when it comes to heli flying.

If any heli flyer here has tried to do a "piro flip" on Mode 1, they will surely know what I am talking about  8-)

What is different between in function of mode1 and mode2 of FS-CT6B 6ch 2.4GHz tx ?

mode 1 : throttle control in your right hand
mode 2 : throttle control in your left hand

Mode 1:

                      left stick             right stick
up/down        elevator               throttle

mode 2:
                     left stick             right stick
up/down       throttle                elevator
left/right        rudder                ailerons   
 

I first started in mode 3 in sim ,but as soon as I got my Spektrum Dx6i mode 2 started training in mode 2 and now like mode 2 very much...

You can choose either mode :headscratch: , for everyone whichever mode they start with is the easiest and best for them.
So choose any mode and don't change it once you like them or learn to be expert of that mode :hatsoff:.
