Title: Will these two antennas work?
Post by: noob flyer on January 05, 2019, 09:58:53 AM
So yesterday my mushroom antenna broke on my fpv goggles. My quad has a dys 5.8Ghz mushroom antenna on the vtx.I dont have any spares and I want to still fly until my new antennas arrive.Luckily, i had a stock dipole antenna with my TS85L 600mw vtx.So, if i put this dipole antenna on my goggles will it work with the dys antenna on the quad's vtx?If so how much range? VTX:TS85L Goggles:ev800
Thank you for any replies. :)

In theory the antenna should not work! Why? Because mushroom antenna sends/receive circular polarized signal while dipoles are linearly polarized.
But you can try as there is no risk of burning tx/rx as both are fitted with antenna.
And please post the results after the experiment.

I just tried to my fly my quad and for some reason I'm getting around 500m of range? But the weird thing is I get near the same range and penetration without the dipole antenna on the goggles?WTH?

CP mushroom antenna on both side can give easily 1 km of range. If you got only 500 meter you must double check the wirings and connectors next time. Without antenna in rx you can get that much range. It's nothing wrong. It means you have a good VTX.
