Hi ,
Friday , Saturday and Sunday  were Mr MOSS filled days .

A total of 67 nos of Mr MOSS  were built  and flown over these days :

37 nos  at the Fly Spad Workshop at MIT Campus , Anna University
30 nos  at NIT Warangal Tech fest .
A total of  around 110 Engineering Students  formed the 37 teams at FLY SPAD in Chennai .
36 of the 37 gliders were test flown by 1 pilot ( Venkat ) and 1 Copilot ( Saju ) and all flew great .

In fact  the feed back from the participants were the most satisfying part " though they learned  a lot of theory this was the first time they made something by themselves  and actually saw it fly " .

Some even  were so thrilled that they tried to fly their Mr MOSS and a few actually flew a circuit  or half before they crashed the plane but  since damage if any was minimal and they had made it themselves they were confident  of repairing it even if something went wrong.

In fact to add fun  and to show the versatility of SPAD we had a challenge of design  your plane and we will make it in a few hours which was taken up  by Abdul Hakim College of engineering Vellore , Their plane actually flew well  so they got to keep the plane with the set up as a prize.

On the whole it was fun filled , enjoyable  and educative experience for all of us as well.

The biggest satisfaction was  around  200 +  college students were exposed to practical aero modeling in these two days and hopefully we should have at least 10 % continuing this great hobby . Saju and me hope to do our small bit for the hobby through these workshops.

The encouraging bit was also there were I think 3 all girl teams in the 37  and one of them made one of the best flying gliders despite being 1st year students  Clap.

The response to the Anna University workshop was huge : 182 teams applied   for the 30 slots and we were forced to restrict it to 37 as the number of Radios available were limited.

Sai

Will try to upload some photos if and when I get them from MIT.

Nice Thumbs Up

Too bad you did not take any photos yourself  Shocked  Would have made good marketing material also.

BTW, did you have a buddy cable setup for newcomers to try ?

Great!!  Salute This will have a good impact on the community level awareness of the hobby. Possibly should have indian RC forums for "further help" and "direction" on this hobby  Wink

Anwar ,

There were official photographers around including Video and BTW I had to get the kits organised for all these including 2 other workshops in less than 3 weeks   as well as we had to conduct the workshop as the resource persons  so frankly  we forgot about the photos ( need a smiley to show stressed  like pulling at the hair  Grin )  as these did not figure in the priority list  may be we should remember it next time when we should  hopefully be better organised .

There was no question of buddy cable , 37 gliders were test flown in 2 hours  the students tried flying on their own  and crashed but MOSS took it quite well  Thumbs Up

I will be getting USB sim cables for  around 100 of the 4 channel 2.4 G radio's  soon and have advised the students to  get them and practice on FMS .

Same as this one :
http://www.rcindia.org/radios-and-receivers/rcforall-fs-t-4-a-2-4-g-radio-(tx-rx-)-now-available-for-rs-2700/

Of course the price of Rs 2700/- is not valid any longer it is Rs 3000/- without sim cable and Rs 3300 with sim cable .

In fact I am out of stock but  when they do come back in stock  we will be launching  a beginners starter pack which will contain Tx , Rx , 3 nos servos , Motor , ESC , Prop , battery , charger  and sim cable .

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF SUCH A BEGINNERS STARTER PACK  Huh?

The good part of this set that we saw in the last two days was that Binding it is very very simple and there was not a single case of the Radio not  linking with the Tx when bound even when around 10 - 15 of them were on together.

Sai,

I must say that is a great effort to spread this hobby among the masses. I am sure your efforts will bear fruit one day. Hopefully, we could expect some more new aeromodellers and flyers from India very soon.
