Balsa wood is very light and also very easy to cut. You can give it a try. Other types of high density foams can be used but I have no experience with those.

P.S.: You must have posted this thread under this section : http://www.rcindia.org/tools-materials-and-building-techniques/

@kashu_1209
@power_user_ex
@lalitrc
@christo

Hard to make sense of this thread.
First, the heading 'rc plane'.
Doesn't tell us anything. Could have been more specific. This entire forum is about RC planes.
The question in the original post was 'can i use any other material for wings?'
The answer is 'Yes. Coro, depron or balsa'
Not clear how this relates to list of events in our country.

Come on guys. We can do better than this.
1. Original poster can give a heading that indicates the issue, instead of 'Help', 'Want', etc
2. Responders can restrict replies to OP's query and not divert the thread
3. Refrain from posting unconnected issues

Hope this doesn't offend anyone on this thread...
Sorry, I sound like a schoolmaster!

Hi kashu_1209, there is another way to make wings out of thermocol without a Hotwire cutter. You can cover a 1cm thick thermocol with cling film and then may bend it slightly to aerofoil. This method works well.Use Sellotape to stick it in place.

Hi there, actually using a hot wire is the best way to build a wing out of HD foam. You can easily make your own hot wire. All you need is a AC/DC adapter and a 3th guitar strings(i.e the G string, will cost you like 20-40 bucks). And of course you will need a frame made out of PVC pipes or just wood. Use the frame to  suspend the string and to develop a tension. Then just connect the wires from the adapter on both ends of the string. Now remember the wire gets hot only on the portion which falls between the terminals of the adapter.

Good luck
