super pics of gopro, however i agree with nandan on the fisheye effect of the gopro,
..besides the Gopro has a very wide angle and the fish eye effect is not too good . The contour HD however is sleeker , easy to mount and 120 deg wide angle so is more suited for our airplane use.
too much of wide angle, i guess it is more of a personal preference. Mr Sai you need to redo the homepage, your avatar is blocking some critical info

Mr Sai
i see a small built up area in the middle of the mountain (some sort of mandir) could be best spot for making use of climbing winds to soar your bird there. where is this place ? closer to Nilgiris?

Sandy
retirement plans already ??, i am not very far, Kothagiri, make a small shack in my tea garden, we can slope soar there.

Gusty and Sandy ,
Thanks
1) Gopro takes a bit of getting used to but your right the fish eye can be bothersome when doing FPV that is why we prefer the conventional camera for live transmission FPV and the Go Pro only for within sight recording currently . Hope to try live tranmission from it someday though .
2) Yes the Banner of Hands on should be sorted out will do something about that soon.
3) The Temple is Marudamalai Murugan temple

The FPV Video is uploaded now .
The Mini Skywalker is fully loaded literally  :giggle:, its a real small plane for all the stuff loaded on it so Venkat had to literally shed weight from majority of the components and do away with casings . At the end of the Video you will realize what I mean when you see the plane  ;D

Forgot the TV tuner card to record this Video on the lap top hence the Handy cam recording of the Ground Station TV .

We have a Skywalker here, not been launched due to weight concerns, recently, i flew the Shikra, which was quite tail heavy, did extreme low flying and landing on FPV (Goggles). since she is an agile aeroplane, after that sortie of FPV shikra i was sweating with outside temp of 17 deg C.

Do share the weight and eqpt details, so that this weekend we can get ours airborne

PS

3) The Temple is Marudamalai Murugan temple
Sai
i lived near Murugan Temple and woke upto to Madurai Somu's this song, one of my favourite song, always wanted to go there. (you can see Kunakudi Vaidhyanathan there in the video  :) )

No Gusty thats not Skywalker. Skywalker is still being build. Weight issue was with Eagle wing. Though now its been drastically reduced by 300 gms to just less than a KG. weight was not the main issue main issue was interference which now has been eliminated with low band pass filter for antenna, RF filters for all cables. Even I am planning to trim the inverted V antenna to exact channel frequency. Eagle wing is not going to be launched till the ground station is setup with Patch antenna and antenna tracker. ;D even picked up a patch antenna for radio.

Gusty ,
The Mini's Equipment is in the Video  any way will post it later here .

Sandy ,
Will check the AUW of the Mini I guess it should be around 400 gms . Have gone to 2.3 Kms and 400 m altitude with this little baby FPV she is too good and gains great altitude in head wind.
Use of coaxial cabeling  enhances the quality of the video and reduces interference problems to a large extent .
I prefer using Omini directional antenna on the RC Radio rather than patch unless I have  tracking for that as well both the REM Link and Dragon link are good LRS set ups , we personally prefer the dragon link though .
I have changed to Yagi with tracking  for the Video as you will see in some of the exhibition photos the reults are great .

I have picked up a yagi as well as patch for 900.  further planing to rig up a bi-quad too. Lets see which one has good antenna performance.

Yeah I agree with you. You have to be more careful not to point radio antenna away using a patch. Planing for a parallel tracker for that too.

my guess is your mini skywalker would be more than 400 gms. Though its a great performance model. Mine is a regular skywalker. Weight should not be an issue at all for regular skywalker.

The regular Skywalker is very good and I have gone upto an AUW of 2Kg +++ with it

Sandy ,
In fact we have done close to 4 km on both the Skywalker and the FPV Raptor though the FPV Raptor being faster is more comfortable in doing the distance .

The Twin star Go Pro Video has been uploaded http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rcforall-Hands-On-Skipper/137032499747717 .
Gusty ,
As you would see the fish eye effect is there in the case of the Video as well but not as bad as the Stills .

It would be an encouragement to the SKIPPER movement to have more likes on FB for the page :

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rcforall-Hands-On-Skipper/137032499747717

Looking forward to the support from RCI members inclined to do so by taking a few moments to look at this page and like it should you feel it is a good application of the hobby.
